For some reason I haven't been posting much at all this month. I'll probably drop a couple more posts over the next few days to catch y'all up with what's been going on. Well, I guess I can just do the bullet type thing I've seen other people do.
- Classes at Sierra have been going pretty alright. I'm taking tennis, 3D modeling with Maya, and Design, so I'm two classes away from having my associates degrees. Tennis and Maya are both early morning classes though, so I gotta start working harder at getting up early. I don't think I've shown up on time for either class once so far.
- My buddy Colt's been getting me back into Dungeon Dice Monsters and Go recently, so that's been pretty fun getting to play those on a semi-regular basis. Dunno how much longer we'll be able to keep playing between classes, on account of my first class at IIoA starts about a week from now.
- I finally managed to get signed up for my first quarter of online classes at IIoA a few days ago. I still need to run through the orientation and get my books, but aside from that I'm all set to take Advanced Image Manipulation, followed by History of Art. My English classes finally got accepted for transfer, so there's a good chance I'll have something like 60 credits for my degree from Sierra.
- I finally got trained to work in the jewelry department at work the day before I left for AWA. I've still got four 2-7 shifts over the next two weeks though, so who knows when they'll actually let me step down. Granted, I think I got like a 20 cent raise, so maybe they canceled my stepping down?
- AWA was absolutely spectacular. I definitely don't regret taking over the hotel rooms now. It was so great seeing all of you guys. There's a lot I could say, but I'm getting pretty tired, so I'll probably just make a separate post for AWA recap.
Today was the Day in the Zone concert, which I had bought a ticket to a few weeks ago. Kevin Rudolph was supposed to be the first act, but he ended up dropping out for some reason or another, so Howie Day started it off instead. I took too long getting down there though, so I missed his entire set. Colbie Callait was just getting started by the time I arrived, and I guess she was running late too, because she didn't actually appear on stage until after she finished singing her first song. I enjoyed her set, but for some reason I stayed at the back of the crowd and wandered around in the shade from time to time.
I didn't actually get up close to the stage until Hoobastank started up their performance, which was pretty awesome. Their lead singer's pretty good at revving up a crowd. They also played a kickass cover of Ghostbusters at one point, which probably made the trip worthwhile. Honestly, I'm not sure whether I enjoyed Hoobastank or Train more, because they both had a lot of bitchin' songs. Train had more audience participation though, cause the main guy kept bringing little kids from the crowd up to sing with him on stage.
While I was wandering around listening to Colbie Callait perform, it occurred to me that I should probably stop going to concerts and movies and stuff by myself. I don't join in with anybody else already there, so I end up just awkwardly standing around with nobody in particular to talk to. At least some guy commented on my Fuck The Colorblind shirt; that was the most any non-vendor said to me. I really ought practice striking up conversations with total strangers.
I was scheduled to start work at around 4:00, but the show didn't get out until 5:30 or so. I showed up at the store anyway around a quarter to 7, and I ended up being tossed all over the place because Amy still hasn't gotten a hold on how to make sure everybody's getting their breaks. Ugh, I just remembered I switched shifts with her for tomorrow. Now I start at 10 am instead of 4 pm. I'm going to sleep before I miss my shift.
oh wow an update,
