California says NO to Canada
Guess I won't be attending ANorth this year after all. When I went to the post office this morning to apply for a passport, they said I needed a better birth certificate, because apparently the version I have was recalled for being easily frauded. I just got off the phone with the department of health (or whoever it is that can send me a new birth certificate), and the lady said it would take FOURTEEN WEEKS to get the new copy.
I'll probably stop by the post office again to see if there is any other document I could present to prove my citizenship, but more likely than not, I won't have a passport before May.
