Improvements for this year's community garden: extended hours (sunrise to sunset :), on site manure composting, and on site HONEY BEE HIVES to help with pollination!!! I enjoyed all the bumblebees who helped our tomatillo plants thrive last year, so I'm really looking forward to this. It's gonna be so cool!

Thanks to Governor Quinn, the Dana-Thomas house re-opened last week! Along with all the Lincoln stuff in Springfield, the Dana-Thomas house is one of the best tourist sites to visit.

A bill that would ban driving while texting passed the House and is working through the Senate.

I really like the fact that Springfield has a skatepark, it looks like it's pretty nice. But it's in the far SW corner of the city, not even close to being accessible via the bus system. It's basically a drive-to-only park. Only kids who lived in the subdivisions a couple blocks away could possibly ride their bikes there; it would be impractical ( Read more... )

During errands today I saw the sign at one of the liquor stores state "BELLS IS BACK"! I turned right into the parking lot and asked about it. According to the owner they signed some sort of agreement a couple days ago, and apparently everyone placed orders for it right away.
