...but not for a rant. Which is what I fear, this is ;-)
Ive never had a problem with sharing my stuff. Me and my sis, being of a similar dress size (although she is taller) and of the exact same shoe size, were in the habit of it during our teenage years.
I never really shared clothing with my eldest, because she is around 6 inches taller than me, and proportionately larger by several dress sizes.
However, Lol is only a couple of sizes bigger than me, and as up until now has not had her own income, has got in the habit of borrowing clothes and accessories of mine. Now, I dont mind this when she asks me first, then returns the item either to where she got it from, or to the laundry to be washed.
Recently however, she has fallen into the habit of not asking, because she takes my assent for granted, then..... she doesnt return them. I have to go searching in the black hole which is her bedroom when I am missing something I particularly want to wear, whether for work or to go out. I go to get it from my closet, and cannot find it. Many a time she has denied she ever had it, only for it to turn up, days later, either in her bedroom, at a friend's or at her Dad's.
Like I have said, I dont mind if she borrows things. However, I do expect her to show respect, both for me and my personal possessions.
Two weeks ago, for the first time in ages, I treated myself to some new clothes. She wore my brand-new jumper before I did to go to a gig. I didnt even notice until we were in the car. I laughed, and asked her to put it in the laundry. She wore it to school the following day. I frowned a little, and asked her to put it in the laundry. Eventually, I had to go fetch it from her room to wash it. I wore it once, washed it again, folded and put it into my drawer, went to wear it today and it has vanished. She denies all knowledge. I posted on Facebook:
"Your protestations that it wasnt you, you didnt borrow it, and you didnt have it would bear so much more weight if it wasnt for the fact that, so many times, it was you, you did borrow it, and, in actual fact, you did have it!"
She has worn brand new leggings and a jersey skirt, both without permission....and stretched them both. Broken two belts because they are too small for her. Split the seam of a coat. Lost or broken so many necklaces I cant even count them.
Im now going to ban her from borrowing my things. If she cant look after them and return them when she is done, she cant have them at all.
