Still in a fuzzy haze of sickly happiness about my engagement : ) Am missing my lovely ring right now though as its currently being resized : ( hopefully be able to pick it up on Monday so not too long to wait (if peeps want to see pics theyre on my facebook - feel free to add me, search for "Helen Betts", Im pretty sure Im the only helen betts in miami, but if not my profile pic is me wearing a black bikini top and yellow skirt). Have only been engaged a little more than a week and the whole logistics of figuring out the actual wedding are stressing me out!! My mum has been great and is going round lots of places to look at venues - must be somewhere old with beautiful gardens (so far the possibilities are Eastlodge, Riber hall, Tissington hall, Hardwick hall or keddleston hall).
The real spanner in the works thats doing my head in right now is the whole gay registering thing to get the marriage license or whatever it is you need. Apparently so gayness dictates, you have to be resident in the uk for 7 days before registering your intent to marry on the 8th day - fair enough. The real arsehole is that this "intent to marry" bollocks has to then be displayed in the registery office wall or wherever for 15 FUCKING DAYS before you are allowed to marry!! Yeah we can like both come over for 6 fucking weeks to deal with this beaurocratic arse - not!! It is SO SO fucking gay - why does it have to be displayed for 15 days? If its incase anyone has any objections then thats completely ridiculous since who in the hell spends their time hanging around registary offices plotting to ruin peoples wedding day. Why cant it be displayed in a newspaper or something and we just fax through the documents rather than having to go in person. I am very full of hate for the stupid system right now, here I think you can get a marriage license in like 48 hours *sigh*. Even if we could get 6 weeks off work (which my boss *may* let me take because he is a nice boss) who the hell is going to look after our old dog for that long? It all sucks donkey arse, very much so indeed, britain is such a fucked up place, just serves to remind my why I left...
