Guitar of AWESOMENESS : )
I am most very very excited indeed! I randomly bought my very own bass guitar on friday and it is the most beautiful creation of wood and other things guitars are made of Ive ever seen : ) Daniel has been teaching me Bass for awhile but his old Bass is so huge and heavy that I physically have difficulty playing it and usually can only play it a couple of times a week at most because it causes me such pain in my fingers and hands. On friday we randomly stopped off at guitar centre on the way home from work to get me a bass book to work from and there it was - my lovely Mr. guitar sitting there staring at me. We were just "looking" to get an idea of how much a Helen sized bass would cost but then I accidently picked up the Mr guitar and accidently had a bit of a go on it and found it was just in a different league to daniels big clumsy thing in that I could actually play it with complete ease, no fighting with the strings and my poor little fingers trying to make them do stuff they just couldnt do, it was like a revelation, and so then I kind of accidently took it to the till and accidently paid for it and took it home : ) (the fact it had $150 off was obviously helped my little accident along). So I have spent my entire weekend lovingly playing my Bass and writing songs with the Daniel face.
The whole thing is even more exciting for me because I have always had a profound love of music but had never thought Id ever be able to be involved in creating it. Playing a musical instrument and writing songs was a complete enigma to me, not really helped very much by the fact Ive always had it drummed into me that I was "tone deaf". Tis complete twaddle! The daniel face (who is musical extrodinare - I dont think theres anything he cant play) kept on encouraging me with his bass and I could play some stuff on it but it never completely clicked because of the physical difficulties. I have had my new guitar for about 72 hours and the whole thing has just fallen into place, the daniel face says hes never seen anyone pick it up so fast and I genuinely dont think hes "just saying" that because I completely ripped through the entire book in the space of a day and a half and yesterday evening we WROTE some songs together and I transcribed the whole lot. I wrote a fucking song and it just happened so naturally, like I could always do it. Its just such a great feeling to be creating original music on my very own instrument with the man I love, Im still in complete shock that I, me, can even play an instrument, let alone play it reasonably well and suddenly be able to read music.
