I'm about a week and a half late on this (meant to post earlier but I was busy.) but September 23 marked the one-year anniversary of when Daniel and I met in Final Fantasy 11.

If you don't know the story, I'm about to tell you - because I swear, if this isn't fate, I really don't know what is.

My first day playing FFXI. I started walking around San d'Oria, having no CLUE what the hell what I was doing, when this mithra runs up to me. (I'll be para-phrasing all of this, I don't really remember what was said but this is close.) I was playing Riikos then, because I'd heard scary stories about how the guys tend to treat female players in MMORPGs. This little mithra named Tiggera runs up and says, "Hey! Are you new?!" To which I replied something along the lines of, "Is it that obvious?" I couldn't figure out how to set caht modes. Hell, I didn't even know what chat modes were. I still had the lil red question mark over my head. I couldn't figure out why all those people were clustered around the "auction house," or how to use it. I still had on starting gear. Basically.... I was a newb.

So Tiggera says, "Well I'm new too! I just started this week. Want to make a party?" Me: "Umm... I guess?" The little yellow text on my screen pops up to say, Tiggera has invited you to join a party! And I stare at it, wondering what the hell I'm supposed to do. Eventually I figure it out, and she and I head off towards Ghelsba Outpost, home of the elusive Orc. Along the way we picked up a hume warrior and a little tarutaru, who kept saying that he was an [Incredibly Tough] [Tarutaru]! (Eventually I figured out he was using the auto-translate function.) He had a japanese name (Hakushi) and I thought I remembered Haku meant river, and shi meant death... so I asked if his name meant river of death. Shocked, he said, "No! It means blank page. lol" He then asked where I had gotten my character's name, and I told him that I was a writer, and Riikos was the main character in my book. He got real excited, and said he wanted to be a novelist too, and write fantasy. We saw an Orcish construct, and Tiggera goes, "Let's kill that!" Hakushi: "Um, no, that'll annihilate us." I don't remember why, but we tried anyway. XD And it annihilated us. We died in a circle around the thing. And this

is how we looked for almost an hour, while Hakushi and Tiggera tried to get us raised. Haku and I talked more, and the next tiem I signed on, we talked again. He introduced me to his other character, Quill, who at that time was around level 70, Paladin. I was suitably awed.

We spent time in various secluded little places, Haku sitting beside me, and talked for hours. It turned out he lived in California, and I was a little upset. I thought I'd found someone I could really connect to, and he has to live on the other side of the country. Nevertheless, we traded likes, dislikes, past relationships, and various stories. He invited me to his linkshell, and they all laughed when I came in, saying, "Oh, so THAT'S where you've been all this time, Quill!" I was nervous around them. They'd known him so much longer, and were mostly higher-level players. I made friends with Dzaal and Merlins first, and adopted them as big brothers. I still love them both to death. ^^ After awhile, Haku/Quill (whom I had learned was named Daniel) asked for my phone number, and we traded numbers. We also traded pictures over email. (He looks so different from the first pic he sent me lol) I was sooo nervous to talk to him over the phone. I remember that day, the day he was going to call, I was at work, and my phone rang. He'd sent me a text message, saying "*wonders if you have text messaging?*" I replied, "*lol I guess so!*" We talked that night, and called each other often over the next month, sometimes playing FFXI while we talked, sometimes while I was sitting on my dad's porch outside at 5 am so I wouldn't wake my dad up.

Finally, we decided we wanted to meet each other. I was living in the apartment over my mom's house by now, and Daniel said he'd fly over for a week so we could spend some time together and get to know each other. I requested the week off from work, and the day his flight came, Kylah (moral support) and I drove to T.F.Green. I'd never even been in an airport, so Kylah and I sat and waited, and talked. I was so nervous, I can't even describe it. (This was sometime in November, just about a month after I'd met him.) Finally, the plane arrived, and I talked to him on the cell phone as he walked through the airport towards me. Then I saw him coming down the escalator. He looked so different than I was expecting. When he reached me, he hugged me and kissed me, and we drove back home. That week we spent watching movies, playing FFXI and FFI, talking, and making various kinds of food for each other. When he left, I thought my heart was going to break. We decided we wanted to live together, but my mother wouldn't let us live in the apartment above hers. Then, my old boss from abother job called and offered me a job in CT. I told him I'd take it, as long as he could give Daniel a job there temporarily, just until he found something here. I moved into the apartment in Avon, CT, Daniel took care of some things at home, and then he drove - DROVE - here from Las Angeles, California. It took him almost a week, and he got here a couple days after New Years Eve.

Since then we've moved to New Britain, had the obligatory couples' fights (only 1 or 2 though), and I love him more every day. He makes me laugh, and I'm just so happy to have him. We joke that we used up all of our luck finding each other. ^^ I doubt he'll ever read this (he doesn't read my LJ) but he knows how much he means to me - and now you all do, too. :)
