I feel weird asking this, considering I have three (five really) stories in the works right now, but it's one of these moments. I know what I want to say and what I want to write, but I'm sort of blanking out on inspiration. So PROMPT ME. Transporter malfunction or trouble on the away mission and Spock gets back without his shirt (at least). Cue everybody going "Hot damn!" and Kirk being impossibly smug about hitting that.

2. Newly-made-command-team!fic where there is still some animosity and misconceptions. One morning Spock discovers Kirk doing Tai Chi alone in the gym. At first he likes to watch (haha! but not like a creeper), then he decides to have Kirk teach him... AND THEN THINGS HAPPEN and all is resolved.

“This is a place of learning, is it not?” Spock asks, sounding puzzled. “Its purpose is to educate and develop intellectual capabilities?”
Jim snorts. “I wouldn’t go that far.” He shakes his head. “But yeah, it’s supposed to be that.”
“In that case, what is the meaning of these” - Spock fumbles for words, almost wincing, as he looks at the gloomy teal balloons and slightly withered tinsel hanging down from the ceiling - “decorations?”
Jim contemplates a lopsided and undeniably ugly paper lantern and sighs. “Well, they are here for the... mood, I guess.”
Spock glances at him sideways. “Is the mood supposed to be suicidal?”

But here goes: We know that Jim's step-father Frank wasn't really a nice person. But what if the extent of his abuse didn't stop at verbal misreatment?
I know this is a very complex idea that could result in a reeaaaally long fic - and you're obviously looking for something shortish at the moment, but I assume if you just showed Spock learning about this (through a mind meld, with some angsting before hand and Jim trying to avoid it because even though he learned to cope over the years he still feels 'ashamed' for it) and his reaction it could be pretty short.
