I miss Merlin

Not the show itself, I think, although it's nice to know that there'll be more to see. But we all know why watching the later series is a bit painful, to put it mildly, so yeah, not watching itself, I guess.

I've been reading marguerite_26's The Ugly Duckling Syndrome (which is excellent and you should all go read it, I know it's a WIP, but come on, guys, it's ( Read more... )

I know what you mean about discovering a new fandom and having all the excitement of new fics and masses of them of to read. I love that feeling. I miss that feeling. Of being so immersed in a single fandom and not coming up for air. I don't have that right now, not really. I'm jumping around between Suits and Teen Wolf and old flames.

I'm being pulled in so many directions by so many ideas, I'm having loads of problems settling. When it was all Merlin all the time, it was easier to stick with writing M/A fics. Now, no such luck. ¬_¬

I love love LOVE Suits! Your fault, btw, you used to talk so much about them that I became curious, and of course once you saw it, you can't resist. :D Have any good recs? I haven't explored fics in this fandom much.

I saw Teen Wolf. Cute. Well, Stiles is cute, and that guy who's the equivalent of Damon from the Vampire Diaries is hot. :D Also I like the blond cheerleader who knows how to make a Molotov's cocktail. :D

I hear you. I used to be all Star Trek all the time. Ah, the blessed time of fandom monogamy... :)

Okay. Fuck. I'm 2 chapters in, and this is basically saying goodbye to being productive for the foreseeable future...

Thanks? :D

So basically you just told me you're not human...

I had my doubts before, you know. This is just confirming it.

Haha, I rec'ed that to Lola the other day. I knew she'd like it! And I figured you would too... it's in the rec list I linked to below. ;)

And if you like that fic, you really REALLY need to read the Charles/Erik AU Unbound. The angst and the D/s and the soulmates and HAVE I MENTIONED THE ANGST? The authors are two chapters from finishing the first fic in the saga. Already coming in at over 200k is a huge commitment but I promise you won't be sorry. They've written some amazing spin-off fics and alternate past/future fics. Brilliantly realised world. *flails*

I've been... circling that story for a while, but I've not ventured to read it yet. I attempted to conquer Nine.Eleven.Ten, which is amazing and all, but when I reached chapter 30 of 35 posted, I stopped and couldn't go on for the single reason that it became -- too much. I couldn't handle that level of tension any longer, needed a breather at the very least. So, after reading the summary of Unbound, I hesitated. It'll be one of those good things that will be waiting for me. >.<

Ah, well I haven't even started Nine Eleven Ten for similar reasons. In that, Unbound is so engrossing and has literally consumed me and my Charles/Erik love. I'm so invested in it I can't really invest that same amount in anything else so long and traumatic. Not just yet. But 9-11-10 is certainly high on my list of fics 'To Read'. I might wait until the author gets closer to the conclusion. Only 35 parts of a 68 part fic, already over 300k? Bit of a doozy!

Yes, the 35/68 thing gave me pause, too, initially, until I started reading and realized it didn't really matter. Not with this fic, anyway.

But yes. It's amazing, but it's a very hard read. Especially because the author is that good, and there's this feeling of complete immersion... It can get a bit too intense for too long.

I love love LOVE Suits!
I am very happy that this love for Suits is all my fault. Have you seen Ep1 of S2? I swear it just makes Harvey/Mike more canon than ever. They're chemistry is delightful and squee inducing. And it doesn't hurt that I have a massive embarrassing crush on Harvey Specter. Because he's Harvey fucking Specter.

As for recs... sadly there isn't loads in this fandom, not yet. It's building steadily though and I'm hoping S2 with garner even more interest. What I've read and enjoyed goes immediately on my rec list, though. SUITS REC LIST OVER HERE! I'd love to write something for Harvey/Mike but my knowledge of law firms and the American legal system is non-existent and I'm still at the stage in this fandom where I need things be fairly canon.

Teen Wolf is... hahaha! It's not great but then I don't watch it for the (silly) plot or Scott and Allison getting it on all the time. Nope. I watch it for Stiles. Stiles is literally the best thing about this show. And I love it even better when he has a scene with Tall, Dark ( ... )

Oooh thanks!

You know, I actually think that you named the top reason why this fandom might have less fics. Harvey and Mike are scarily intelligent and law isn't a subject you can tackle by simply 'winging it.' I think it stops a lot of fans from writing in this particular case, because you'd want to do them justice, and unless you're a lawyer yourself, that's gonna be a tough act to pull off. Some people do amazingly though.

Haha, if you wrote them, I'd read them. Any day. :D
