So I've just finished my first week in Florida. So I thought, while I'm some land of pineapples (where pineapples are actually more expensive than in Canada, go figure) I should write a journal on my pineapple's at play LJ. And since I have to record everything I do during the weekdays, I figured, why not post a journal for my weekends, that way I'll be forced to get out and do stuff rather than sitting around and doing nothing so that I can tell people about it! (...not like anyone reads this journal)
But anyway...
Saturday morning I discovered that America TV has what Canadian TV seems to have lost... Saturday Morning Cartoons! Granted most of it is reruns from the good old days, but that still didn't stop me from watching TV from 930am to 2pm. I washed my dishes, made myself a nice omelette for breakfast and kinda unpacked and reorganized more stuff around my place all the while, but I still feel like Saturday morning cartoons overall or going to be very bad for my productivity over the weekends. On the bright side I discovered that most of the shows I'm trying to keep up with that are new on saturday, are replayed on sundays... yay!
I'm not entirely sure where saturday afternoon went, but in the evening I watched the Kentucky Derby which I hadn't watched in years, chatted with some friends online about the snow in Calgary (hehe) and Skyped my family. I ranted to them about how OSAP is stupid and denied my application because apparently after living in ON for 7 years, having an Ontario drivers licence, having a permanent residence in ON for 3 years, and being registered to vote in Ontario is not enough to declare me an Ontario resident. Anyone have any familiarity with ALIS? Probably gonna have to look into Bank Loans, I'd prefer giving my money to them rather than the government of Alberta anyway.
Went out for a walk to the beech saturday night for the sunset, came back, played the hilarious vietnamese re-tralsnated version of pokemon crystal.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZ_bhwCgtXg&noredirect=1 (it be messed) And watched Pride and Prejudice on TV. I also made a hair bow with the polkadot duct tape my mom bought me, which I wore today (sunday) to go out!
Sunday I went to a walmart super-center, bought some scrubs for work (we don't have to wear them, but everyone else does) Also bought some more really cool duct tape. Got ID'd for buying white-out. Watch out kids! Walmart won't let you buy simple school supplies!!
After Walmart I went to this festival called Taste of Pinellas, it was 20$ to get in, then you had to pay more money to get the food tickets to try stuff at the booths, but it was for the Children's Hospital, so I didn't mind :P I went almost when it started, and didn't really want to stick around for the big name musical performances (Dashboard Confessional and All America Rejects) but I watched the first two. The Kinected were really good, I'll have to look into them. I'm kinda sad I didn't go get their CD (or at least see how much it would have cost me). A Rocket to the Moon were not so good.
After I ran out of food tickets I decided to get my money's worth out of my parking spot and explore a bit instead of taking the shuttle to the parking lot. On my way back I found the one and only movie theatre my travel guide told me about. It's not the only one in the area obviously, but it looked pretty cool so I thought I'd check it out. Turns out it's not a ritzy indy theatre, but just a regular theatre with class (they have assigned seating, and some of the rows have those new moving chairs installed). Got there 20 minutes before the next 3D showing of the Avengers and there were still tickets left so I thought, why not! It was quite enjoyable. I got my hand stamped for re-entry to the festival, but the movie didn't end until about 30 minutes after I could get back in again, so now I have a stamp on the back of my hand that I didn't use and didn't really wash off at all. :(
Hit up the grocery store on my way home, bought food for my lunches this week. Took a swim in the pool, which was quite nice, despite how small the pool is. Watched Mythbusters while cutting veggies for the week and making dinner, and now I'm writing this! (then I will be going to bed)
Put on lots of sunscreen before leaving the house, but I forgot to get the top of my head, so now my head is a bit burned. Also think that the headache I have right now might be mild heat stroke, but I drank water whenever I saw a water fountain and mostly tried to keep in the shade. Well, hopefully I'll feel better after some sleep! Back to 'work' bright and early tomorrow!
