Being that I am the daughter of a man who has an IQ of 189 (no, really, they thought he cheated on the IQ test and so administered it again under supervision... he scored 184 the first time) and whose favorite quote is Twain's "Those that think they know everything annoy those of us who do", and whose Most Repeated Catchphrase is "I'm not conceited, I'm convinced," is it really any surprise that I enjoy the Doctor the most when he's being all "Because I'm clever, and you're not." Is it any wonder why I love Rodney McKay so much, even, yes, when he's being a major, major tool in the his first few stints on SG1? Is it surprising to anyone at all whatsoever that Sherlock had me from that obnoxiously presumptuous wink in the lab when he knew Watson would be his soulmate and Watson was still going "who... what? me?"
So I finally saw the first episode of Sherlock BBC, if you can't tell. Wow. Wow wow wow, everybody and their brother was right on about that one. I'm enamored with this show quicker than possibly any show ever HAS grabbed my attention. I can't think of one other show that had me hook line and sinker like this one does, it even dwarfs Life On Mars, which had, ya know, John Simm so, I was predisposed to loving it. I'm INCREDIBLY disappointed that it's only 3 episodes long, is it coming back? Is it just on hiatus? Will there be a series 2? These are things I NEED TO KNOW.
This actor, whoever he is, Sherlock. Wow. He's so not my type. He's all skinny skinny and gaunt and gothic - ish, and yet? He's a fucking asshole malcontent with no friends that's smarter than any ten people put together and is therefore? INCREDIBLY sexy to me. I adored Martin Freeman in The Office (the real one) and I adore him still, but mostly this show exists solely on whether or not Sherlock is speaking (or thinking, because I don't hear background noise when he's thinking) for me. LMFAO. Wow.
In closing I would like to say this: My favorite British word, it turns out, isn't even solely British. And that word is "clever." American's say it, sure, but not the way Brits do. I really don't know how to describe that, but if an American says the word clever it doesn't jump out at me as being a particularly interesting word, but when The Doctor says "Because I'm clever" I die a thousand fangirl deaths of happiness, and I do the same thing when Sherlock says it. Also: "Shut up." "I didn't say anything." "You were thinking. It's annoying." BWA. And. "Dear God, what is it like in your tiny little brains? It must be so boring." OMG *dies of the HEEEEE*
Also, Sherlock and Watson, sitting in a tree, s-n-o-g-g-i-n-g. (Sorry, I love the word snog and all it's permutations and I only get to use it when talking about British shows!) I'm about positive you'll be seeing fic in this fandom from me just as soon as I've watched all three eps. Like, 110% positive. (Foresees fic of The Doctor and Sherlock, hmmm... but am *I* clever enough to write it? Probably not. LOL. Is the Doctor in love with him, or do they have a whose cleverer war? That remains to be seen.)
I'm late to the party, yes, yes, moving along, communities I need to see? Pictures I must be spammed of? Videos/interview/whathaveyou? Fics I must read? Anything and everything you got, give it to me.
