house newts!

So I set up a little foot and a half tank for a few female fighters, a couple of peppermint bristlenose and some cherry shrimp. Not an ideal tank by any means but it was the best I could do and i'm fish clucky. I go out to buy the fish and cannot find ANY decent female fighters. I went to a few different shops and the last one I go to has baby axolotls. I am a sucker for baby axolotls. So I decide since the tank isn't idea for what I wanted I will get one of those instead. I pick out a nice wild type olive coloured one and then spot a tiny eeny weeny little golden one with all its legs bitten off, half its tail bitten off and just looking crappy sitting in the corner of the tank all alone. I managed to talk the aquarium guy into giving me that one for free since no one will buy it anyway. Bring them home all is good. Not really expecting the little one to even survive the night, let alone eat (which he did!) I get up this morning and he is still alive. Poor little guy has to wiggle like a tadpole to swin since he has no limbs. I hope he makes it, he's such a sad little thing. I call him Stups and the other one is Fings.

I think I will buy a 2ft setup and have a loach/catfish tank when I have some time. I miss fish but don't have the room/time for anything bigger. I have a really nice 3ft tank with a stand and an awesome Ehiem filter, good heater, light everything but I lent it to Matt's grandfather and don't want to ask for it back. Plus I tend to obsess and spend heaps on my fish which I just can't afford right now.

fish, axolotls, fings, stups
