#71: Would you be willing to have horrible nightmares every night for a year if you would be rewarded with extraordinary wealth?
What would you do if you realized that unless you changed jobs and took a 25 percent pay cut, you would have moderate insomnia and a nightmare every month or so?
Is there anything worse that the worst nightmare?
So lemme see if I've got this - I can be rich and crazy insane or take a pay cut and not have moderate insomnia and a nightmare once a month. Okay so my answers: Not be rich no nightmares and not take pay cut because I already have at least one nightmare a month and moderate insomnia. I medicate with large amounts of doing too many things to the point of exhaustion.
#72: If you could have free, unlimited service for five years from an extremely good cook, chauffeur, housekeeper, masseuse, or personal secretary, which would you choose?
Housekeeper.
#73: Would you be willing to go to a slaughterhouse and kill a cow? Do you eat meat?
Yes. Yes. Yes.
#74: Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person.
Sign me up, right now. Let me grab a pair of pjs and a sweater and I'm good to go.
#75: After a medical examination, your doctor calls and gravely says you have a rare lymphatic cancer and only a few months to live. Five days later, she informs you that the lab tests were mislabeled; you are perfectly healthy. Forced for a moment to look death in the face, you have been allowed to turn and go on. During those difficult days you would certainly have gained some insights about yourself. Do you think they would be worth the pain.
I don't think I would have told anyone. At least not so soon. I would have waited until closer. I think I would just go on doing what we do. Probably being a lot more cuddly with Ruby and J. Calling friends and family more. I guess they'd start to figure out something was up. I don't think I'd experience pain. I'd be sad that I would miss out on so much. Then so grateful when I found it it was wrong.
#76: One hot summer afternoon, while walking through a parking lot at a large shopping center, you notice a dog suffering badly from heat inside a locked car. What would you do?
Break the window and take the dog to a no-kill shelter. Oh yes I would.
#77: Do you feel ill at ease going alone to either dinner or a movie? What about going on a vacation my yourself?
Movies I'm fine with. Dinner I used to be weird about until I figured out the book trick. Vacation by myself is looking sweeter and sweeter every day.
#78: If you knew that in one year you would die suddenly, would you change anything about the way you are now living?
Yes. I think we'd sell everything we have and travel around in an rv or something. Enjoying time together. Seeing everyone I want to see and everything I want to see. So that everyone has some really awesome memories to hold on to.
#79: For $20,000 would you be willing to go for three months without washing, brushing your teeth, or using deodorant? Assume you could not explain your reasons to anyone, and that there would be no long-term effect on your career.
How do you react to the idea that more people are willing to have sex for money (question 156) than to forgo washing?
A century ago this would not have been the case; do you think our more permissive sexual attitude is a healthy development?
What about our increased attention to personal hygiene?
How important is advertising in bringing about these changes?
3 months....hmmm. Can I swim? Is gum allowed? Can I skirt the rules and go old school grooming like swimming for baths and talc powder for deodorant and stuff? If so the yes I probably would. It's 3 months for half of what I make in a year.
Sex is fun and it's a bonus to get paid. Being gross is not fun.
I find it hard to believe that a century ago you wouldn't be able to find someone to have sex for money....oldest profession and all..
I think we've gotten a little too crazy/germaphobe...but that's what happens when you eat from the tree of knowledge people.
I think advertising and fear mongering has helped hygiene significantly. That and comedy shows that make people think that they aren't cool if they smell or are dirty...which they're not. ;)
#80: Would you rather die peacefully among friends at age 50, or painfully and alone at age 80? Assume that most of the last 30 years would be good ones.
50, peacefully.
#81: If you were to discover that your closest friend was a heroin dealer, what would you do?
well let's see...I'd be really disappointed in myself for being such an idiot and not recognizing it any sooner than 13 years later...I'd ask about any job openings and the income earning potential since if she was doing it, it had to be worthwhile.
#82: Is it easy for you to accept help when you need it?
Will you ask for help?
Yes and Yes. The real question is how do I react when I ask for help and don't get it? Answer: Not well. Not well at all.
#83: If you were helping to raise money for a charity and someone agreed to make a large contribution if you would perform at the upcoming fund-raising show, would you?
If so, what would you like to perform?
Assume the show would have an audience of about 1,000.
I would love to tell some family stories a la Kelli. I think I tell a pretty good tale. I like to think so anyway.
