Summary: Taekwoon finally moves into his new apartment but there is something special about this place and the previous owner.
Chapter one Together, Taekwoon and Ken ate breakfast and Ken talked about the release of his new single and how Taekwoon should DEFINITELY come to one of the music shows and watch him. Taekwoon was usually not too fond of these kinds of events but he loved music and ken was his close friend after all.
After they were finished eating they got to work unpacking all of Taekwoon's stuff. Fortunately the older male didn't own that much, so they were done in the early afternoon. The entire time the composer had tried hard to ignore his uninvited guest, who had always thrown in random comments. It was somehow easier with Ken around...maybe because the singer himself could be quite annoying sometimes...
Still Taekwoon was more than happy when they finally left the apartment to buy the ingredients for dinner. They had decided to skip lunch because both of them had had breakfast pretty late and Ken kept telling him that he wasn't allowed to eat that much because of his upcoming comeback and because of that he'd skip lunch to be able to fully enjoy Taekwoon's cooking.
The raven-haired male had really hoped to find the Hakyeon gone when he and Ken came back two hours later (shopping with Ken somehow ALWAYS took way longer than usual), but of course his wish had not been granted and the other was still there ...sitting on the kitchen counter and and looking at them like a puppy that ad been waiting for its owner to return.
Well...if Hakyeon had indeed been a puppy then Taekwoon would have found it cute. He loved animals and always wanted to have a pet, but pets had not been allowed in his previous apartment and he was often away from home due to his schedule anyways.
But Hakyeon was not a puppy.
They put all the groceries in the fridge and the cupboards and Taekwoon began preparing dinner right away. I would take some time to get everything ready so Ken sat down at the kitchen counter dividing Taekwoon's kitchen from the living room area.
The singer knew better than to ask Taekwoon if he could help him with anything. After an incident which involved him almost blowing up Taekwoon's kitchen (at least that was what Taekwoon always said. Ken thought that it had not been THAT bad) the singer was practically banned from the area.
So while Taekwoon prepared dinner Ken just provided entertainment. He told him about schedules, about one of the styling noonas that was obviously in love with him but “you know, she's not my type”, about one of his new background dancers who was pretty hot but “unfortunately had a boyfriend”.
The composer didn't comment on any of it but sometimes Ken's stories really made him smile. As annoying as the other could be, Taekwoon appreciated that the other knew and accepted that he wasn't someone to talk much.
And if he hadn't been sitting right next to Ken Taekwoon could have easily forgotten the silver-haired male still present in his apartment...
When dinner was ready they both sat down at the dining table. Ken had switched on the television in the meantime because there was apparently some drama playing that the singer really wanted to see. Taekwoon didn't mind. He wasn't a fan of dramas but he had to admit that it was fun watching his friend's reaction.
They had moved from the dining table to the couch between the main course and dessert and by the time the episode ended Ken was sitting there crying, a spoon of vanilla ice cream still in his mouth because “how could you do this you fool! You love her!”....and yes, ken was talking to or rather yelling at his television.
“Taekwoon, how could he do this?!”, Ken turned towards the older tears still streaming down his face. The composer sighed. “Maybe because he thinks it's best for her if he lets her go. She is already with someone else after all”, the composer answered shrugging. The singer looked at him for a Moment and then back at the television. “Fool...she would be way happier with him and she knows that!I know she likes her fiance a lot but ...ARGH!” Ken had put down the ice cream and was now frantically hugging one of Taekwoon's pillows and rolling around on the couch.
Taekwoon just watched him and shook his head. He sometimes wondered how a playboy like Jaehwan could be such a romantic. He had known him for 5 years and during all this time none of Jaehwan's relationships had lasted longer than 4 months.
Well...it was still better that Taekwoon himself, who had not been dating anyone in the past 3 years....
Ken was still hugging the pillow and pouting when his cell phone started ringing. He fished it from his pocket and looked at the display, groaning. “Sorry, it's my manager”, he said and stood up to go into the guest room.
“He seems really nice!”, Taekwoon suddenly hears a voice behind him. He doesn't need to turn around to know who's standing there and he decides that it would be best if he just kept ignoring the silver-haired male. Unfortunately the other one still doesn't seem to get that Taekwoon is not interested in befriending him in any way, because Hakyeon walks around the couch to sit at its other end and looks at Taekwoon as if expecting a reaction.
“come on Taekwoon-sshi, you should know by now that I'm not a figment of your imagination and that, even if you ignore me, I won't just disappear!”, he said. Taekwoon was tempted to reply, but what? It was true that he was sure that the other boy wasn't just his imagination but really a ghost. Taekwoon still had no idea why he, of all people, was the only one who could see the other. But he'd just have to try to find out and make it stop, since Hakyeon's statement made it clear that he did not plan to leave on his own.
The door to the guest room opened again and both, Hakyeon and Taekwoon, looked up. “I'm sorry hyung, I need to leave”, Ken said looking at him in apology. Taekwoon just nodded and stood up to see his friend off.
Hurriedly the singer put on his jacket and shoes while Taekwoon leaned against the wall and watched. When the brunette was done he looked up and back at his friend. “And promise me you'll watch my comeback stage! If you don't come I'll be mad!”, he said. Taekwoon rolled his eyes. “Hey, don't do that! You know I mean it! So promise!”, he demanded his arms crossed in front of his chest.
Taekwoon sighed. “Fine, I promise”, he said.
Immediately the younger started grinning like a Cheshire cat and leaned forward to give the other a kiss on the cheek. “Okay, I'll send you the exact date and place. See you!”, he said and was out of the door only seconds later.
“So....now that he's gone could you probably stop ignoring me so we can talk about what we're going to do?”
Taekwoon turned around just to find the dark-skinned male standing behind him. He sighed again. “It's easy, why don't you just leave and bother someone else so I can live here in peace”, the composer shot back, clearly annoyed by the lasting presence of the other.
Hakyeon rolled his eyes. “I told you already that I can't!”, he said. “That's ridiculous...here I'll even hold the door open for you.”, the pianist said and held the door open. Again, the ghost rolled his eyes. “No, THAT'S ridiculous! I'm a ghost, I can walk through walls and doors, but for some reason I cannot go through THAT door!”, he tried to explain, but Taekwoon did not seem convinced.
“Fine, if you don't believe me...”, he said and walked past the pianist. He took a deep breath and then jumped towards the open door.
To Taekwoon's surprise the other male was thrown back as soon as he reached the door. It was as if he had been repelled by an invisible shield an instinctively Taekwoon reached out hand to check if there was really something blocking the way...but he couldn't feel anything.
“See, I told you it wouldn't work”, Hakyeon said rubbing his shoulder which had connected with the 'shield' first. Without saying another word the raven-haired man closed the door again and walked back into the living room.
As much as he wanted to get rid of the other...what he had just seen had proven that the other was not lying about his inability to go.
So he needed another plan.
He took out his laptop and sat down on the couch. This time, though, he sat at the other end with his back facing the wall instead of the kitchen. Now that Jaehwan was gone Hakyeon's presence started to freak him out again. He hated it when people snuck up on him from behind and Hakyeon was a natural (for obvious reasons).
If Hakyeon really was a ghost then there had to be a way to exorcise him and Taekwoon was going to find out how to do it. He just hoped that it didn't require any of these nonsensical procedures often performed in cheap horror movies. He'd rather keep it simple and secret. He didn't want some self-proclaimed 'expert' walking around his apartment and telling him what kind of 'evil creatures were inhabiting these walls', if his problem was actually just...Hakyeon.
He looked up at the other male who was standing next to him and obviously trying to figure out what Taekwoon was doing there. He really didn't seem dangerous...annoying, yes, but not dangerous.
“Ever heard of the word privacy?”, Taekwoon asked and the other looked at him with a frown. “Well, if you'd just talk to me properly I wouldn't have to do this, so...what are we gonna do now?”
Taekwoon rolled his eyes and focused his attention back on his laptop. He opened Google and typed 'exorcise ghost' into the search mask.
“Seriously? You want to exorcise me?”, Hakyeon asked disbelieving. “You know how this stuff usually ends in horror movies! I'll tell you: NOT GOOD!”, he said and shuddered. Hakyeon hated horror movies and all that scary stuff happening in them and the thought of having one of these creatures that no one else could see here when he's trapped inside the apartment...it terrified him.
The pianist was a bit surprised by the reaction of the other but he kept searching nevertheless. Unfortunately most of the sites he found were pretty useless. They either described procedures that Taekwoon really didn't want to try out or they just wrote about demons and evil spirits and again, Taekwoon didn't think that Hakyeon was dangerous.
The silver-haired male watched in horror as the composer clicked through all these pages. He really didn't want to encounter any of the creatures described in those stories.
“Listen...I-I'll be good. I can't leave this apartment, but I'll do whatever you say just....don't try out any of these rituals...please”, Hakyeon said with a pleading look on his face while he nervously played with the hem of his sweater.
Taekwoon looked up at the other male, judging the look on his face and contemplating the offer. So far he had not found anything useful and Hakyeon really didn't seem to be a threat. So...he guessed that it was the best solution for the time being.
He sighed and closed his laptop. “Okay. But there are three rules that you need to obey!”, he said. In response the other nodded eagerly.
“Rule number one: Keep out of my bedroom and my bathroom! I don't care if you walk around the rest of the apartment but these two rooms are off limits.”, he announced and again, Hakyeon nodded.
“Rule number two: Do NOT touch my piano!”
At that Hakyeon looked at him disbelieving. “Uhm...I'm a ghost, forgot that?”, he said and let his hand go right through Taekwoon's shoulder. “Okay, rule number 2.5: also, don't ever touch me”, he said and shuddered slightly. He hadn't felt anything but the sight alone creeped him out.
“Rule number three...” “Hey I thought there were only three rules?”, Hakyeon interrupted but Taekwoon just glared at him.
“Okay okay, I get it. I either follow the rules or you try to exorcise me and end up calling the creepy demons from hell who will eat me alive; understood! So what's rule number three?”, he asked hastily.
Taekwoon was glad that the other didn't argue any longer, because he was stressed out enough as it was.
“Rule number three: Don't talk to me unless it's absolutely necessary!” “So...with necessary you mean: if a burglar came in through the window I could talk to you?”
Taekwoon sighed. “Yes...though I don't believe that anyone would be able to come in through window on the 21st floor.” “Well Spiderman could!”, Hakyeon argued and Taekwoon had to suppress the urge to hit his head against the next solid surface.
Instead he started rubbing slow circles on his temples. This guy was really starting to give him a haedache.
“Just shut up”, Taekwoon said and stood up to retreat to his bedroom.
“Hey, where are you going?”, Hakyeon called out to him.
“Rule number three!”, was all he got for an answer before Taekwoon vanished into his bedroom.
The silver-haired male watched the other retreat and sighed.
“We may as well expect the worst.”, he said to himself .
A/N: So now Hakyeon and Taekwoon are officially living together. I don't know whom I should pity more XD Sorry to everyone who is Ken biased for depicting him as an idiot ^^; The next chapter might take a bit longer since I have exams the next two weeks.
