Dear Aqua Fanclub on DA,
Now, the contest theme was childhood. And since it's Aqua, this is Aqua's childhood. Now, I wouldn't be so mad if there were only one or two out of eight of the entries that were romance. But five out of eight are Terra x Aqua childhood romance (one of which also includes OC x Aqua), and one seems to be Ven x Aqua romance. The only two that don't are little Aqua holding a good luck charm, and an entry of Young!Aqua, Kairi, Namine and Xion.
When I think of childhood, I don't think of childhood romance or sweethearts. That's a bit creepy if it's the first thing you think of. I think it's a great time to expand on, perhaps, her family! Aqua's a really cool character. However, I don't get this. A majority of the entries are childhood romance. And while it fits the theme, why is it this is the first thing on people's minds? Is she, by virtue of being female, ONLY a love interest?
If the contest weren't over, I'd write a story concerning family for her. One devoid of romance because, quite frankly, Aqua is more than just a romantic interest. And it greatly disturbs me that six out of eight are pairing "childhood sweetheart" pics.
