Rant + Recommendation
I freely admit to being an Akuroku fan. If I wasn't lazy, I'd be drawing GOOD fanart, I write a ton of fanfiction (yet never seem to update frequently), and I support it for something BESIDES the hawt bishie goodness. Namely the actual... what do you call it... RELATIONSHIP.
However, I would not go so far as to claim AkuRoku is CANON, because this is a KID'S game, and neither would I call it "a bastardization of the plot line" just because I don't see it as platonic friendship. I especially dislike it when the video/fanart/fanfic is GOOD, because you'd think someone with that sort of talent would know better than to think everything is black and white.
The whole "TOTALLY CANON vs. EVIL TWISTING OF THE GAME" argument is very popular on Youtube, and I've started losing brain cells whenever I read too many comments. Especially when it's AkuRoku, but that's not a big surprise.

And on that lovely note, Blue October is TOTALLY Axel and Roxas' band! They've got the perfect mix of anger and sincerity, and a lot of videos I've seen to Blue October are FANTASTIC.
