I don't know if this is really a rant...

Okay, so... I've been thinking for awhile, and it just occurs to me that I should write about it. I don't know if it's been ranted about or even if it really qualifies as a rant; it's more of a question, but:
Why aren't there any horror fics?
I mean, I know I should get off my ass and write one if I wanted to see one so badly, but I tried and I lost inspiration halfway through chapter one. Plus it wasn't very horrific or suspenseful, more gory and gross. It needed less Quentin Tarantino, more Edgar Allan Poe.
That was kind of disappointing.
I thought, maybe everyone was kind of like me, not really thinking about it or not really inspired by it. But then I remember I don't know the last time I've read a real horrorfic, ever! Except maybe a Sephiroth/Cloud vampire/incubus/zombie-whatever fic or if you count some of those squickfics, maybe? They weren't scary, though. Isn't that the point of horror...?
Anyway, I don't know, I don't even like the horror genre much. I just think it would be refreshing to have a horror fic. And not like, modern/fantasy vampires. Like real, actual, horror.
Maybe I'm not searching hard enough...?
