On the Subject of Crossovers.

I am SICK of seeing crossovers with Naruto, Bleach, Inuyasha, whatever happens to be playing on Adult Swim at the moment, Harry Potter, [insert overwhored series (in terms of crossover usage) here]. Contrary to popular belief, there ARE other worlds that are available for crossover, and ones that could benefit from the attention.

Currently am writing a Silent Hill/Kingdom Hearts crossover. Technically it also has Pirates of Darkwater, as well as Darkstalkers involved. A friend of mine is writing a companion piece to it that's a Resident Evil/Kingdom Hearts crossover.

His Dark Materials would make an AWESOME crossover. (The movie comes out on my birthday. :D)

I've actually done a Star Wars/Kingdom Hearts crossover with one of my bast friends. It was a lot of fun and it actually worked! (Xemnas was rather baffled at the amount of beings and planets that were included in the world of Star Wars.)

Then we had out huge multi-fandom AU crossover (Gov't VS. Rebels). It did include Harry Potter and other over-used fandoms, but we also had some new ones. Including Star Wars, X/1999, and Gorillaz. Tons of fun, to simply say.

However, when I do crossovers, they sometimes become utter CRACK. I just wrote a challenge drabble that was a Kingdom Hearts and Katamari Damacy (We ♥ Katamari, actually) crossover. That was fun to write and I'd actually like to try and make a full-fledged fic out of it.

Meh, I'd rather people write what they know than a random book series. Much as I love His Dark Materials I would rather see a hundred crossovers with Naruto than someone who hasn't read all of the books making a crossover with them. I think most people who make the popular show crossovers don't read or watch anything other than the "popular" series - or don't feel they have a good enough grasp on less popular things. Heck, half the time crossovers come up I don't recognize the shows/books people say would make a "better" crossover than the series in the limelight.

Are there really a lot of Harry Potter crossovers with KH? Are any of them any good?

I've never seen a decent HP/KH crossover, personally. Or at least the Really Really Good kind that makes me happy. There're quite a few where Harry takes the place of Sora (and Ron and Hermione fill in for Riku and Kairi) which fits fairly well but I don't think it's that creative. :/ They're mostly rewriting the series with the Harry Potter characters, which is no fun at all. Script copies, basically. Then there're the random 'humor' crossovers, and a few odd ones with the KH characters at Hogwarts.

I actually got around to working on something of a Dresden Files crossover. Chicago would be the Windy City, and having Harry Dresden in your party would KICK ASS.

Or Murphy. Or Morgan. Or Marcone (OMGYESPLZ).
