I know what you're thinking...uh oh, it's one of those rants again! Actually, not so, it's more discussion/theory than actual rant. So feel free to throw around your own ideas, too. :3
Axel completely annihilates any shred of canon connected to Nobodies as a whole, IMHO. Actually, Final Mix+ and the novels (which Nomura himself supervises the writing) pretty much throw all established canon out the window. Blame it on our lord-almighty beloved director changing his mind every other week. =/
I personally believe in the theory that it's not actually their hearts that the Nobodies are missing, but something akin to it so that's what they call it (as stated in the novels). It explains some of the loopholes at least.
I rather like this theory and everything you pretty much went over. The idea of lacking a Heart being less about 'No Emotions' (which has been proven to NOT be the case time and time again), but rather a lacking in the ability to Connect.
It sort of reminds me of the whole 'Hollow Man' theory of sociopaths, the idea that their inability to connect leaves them so empty inside that they feel the need to fill it somehow. The methods used are, obviously, almost always extremely unpleasant for EVERYONE involved. I've always thought of Nobodies as being very much like the metaphysical equivalent of being a Sociopath. You can be angry, sad, happy, whatever....but there's always an element of it being about YOU, because you simply can't connect emotionally with others.
Generally, if someone makes you happy, you care about them. /smartass
Seriously, that makes a lot of sense. However, it does seem to me that at least one Nobody doesn't want his Heart back *coughMansexcough* and that theory makes more sense of his motives. He wants power. Hearts are power. But having his own heart back would make him feel remorse for his actions. True, regaining his heart might have helped him with his fragmented memory (dammit, you probably have the best theory on that, too [i.e. who he was before Ansem the Wise found him]) but he probably doesn't care about that anymore.
The argument that they have no emotions at all never made any sense to me. As zalixethbe said, it works in theory. For me, it always made me think of the Lifeless Beings in Tales of Symphonia. My personal theory on the Nobodiesis one of the common ones is that they feel the whole range of emotions, but not completely. There's something missing and that nags at them. They're sort of detached and in a somewhat numb state. It's almost painful. So

I'm not going to say anything because I agree. Especially on Axel being selfish. I mean, "The Roxas that I knew is long gone." makes it okay to kill Roxas? HELLO, SELFISHNESS.
But I will comment this: crying (and no, Axel is not the only Nobody to do that, kthx.
FINALLY! XD It's like, 'Um, did you not notice Demyx sobbing in despair while fading away?' *nodsnodsnods*
Ah, not only Demyx, but Namine also starts to cry in CoM!
Yeah, all throughout the six days of Roxas, Axel is more than willing to hurt Roxas if it means dragging him back to the Organization. Not exactly looking out for Roxas's well-being, there, but it is looking out for his own!
Well, if only because Naminé and Roxas aren't exactly what one might call "normal" Nobodies, I don't quite consider them on the same level. I mean, technically, Sora's crying because Roxas is crying, when he leaves Twilight Town, too. XD;;;
It's very selfish and mineminemine and. Sort of hilarious, because, hello, Axel, world's greatest asshole. X3;;
