So you're writing a dance scene between two KH characters. Okay then. It's pretty cute and written decently, with not many details as to confuse people. And you have a lot of the dances written down correctly, too. But here's a tip:

If you're going to write about two characters doing the wu tang tango, don't put in an author's note explaining you'll ( Read more... )

That is something I hate, but sometimes author notes are need, but keep them for the end of the chapter >.< Kinda when I was reading a Golden Sun fic, and it was really good, but then an author's note appear in the middle of a scene. Big fat lose! Nice rant by the way ^^

Oh, I love author's notes, especially when they're helpful about something I don't know. Saves me time from searching on the web just because of a phrase or event that made me stopped dead in my reading and go "huh?"

It's just, gee, that A/N really didn't need to be there. It wasn't oh-so important that a note has to sit there, right after the sentence, because it just kills the mood. ._.;

Not to say that an important note should be in the middle of a story. It doesn't make it any better. >.

I love author notes (mostly because I'm clueless about a lot of things), but when their in the middle of a sentence... it just kills the mood. Important author's notes are nice, especially for me, but I just not a fan of them when their in the middle of the story. It like your read a good story and it all dramatic, then an A/N appears, it kills the drama a bit. A lot of stories I read have author's notes at the end of the chapter talking about what happen or even at the beginning of the chapter, and it those A/N I love. I hope that makes sense, I never been good a making sense ^^;

I know what you mean. I really prefer A/N at the opening of a fic [because at the end I don't necessarily focus anymore], as long as a note concerning the fic is subtle, as to not ruin the story up ahead.

Seriously. *nods*

Yesterday I read a fic that went kind of like this, right in the middle:

Riku smiled awkwardly. (Which I've tried to draw once, it was so hard!!!)

uh, no.

XD ROFL.

I once read:

"Name's Axel. A-X-E-L." (Got it memorized?)

As if it were any better than actually placing it in the dialogue. =/

WORD.

I call those abominations "Post-It notes." You know, since they're stuck in random spots all over the fic and are short but utterly mind-numbing.

Also, I once read this fuck-tastic FMA fic where it went something like this:

Why am I thinking so much about that stupid bastard Mustang? (a/n: why are you asking all these questions? XD)

PLEASE, BITCH. You're the AUTHOR.

Word. There's also these things like inserting footnotes. I mean;

Kairi pulled out her keyblade. (1)

The hell is the one supposed to be, the number of her keyblade? It doesn't help that we have to scroll aaaaaaalllllll the way down to know exactly what you're talking about, since we never played the game.

Authors notes remain before, or after the fic. How many times was this rule abused?
