So yes, I hate school with a deadly passion. Always have, always will. These past couple of semesters have just made it worse. I ended up dropping classes down so I'm now at 8 hours this semester, and was actually close to dropping out of school altogether. Thankfully my degree just means that much to me. I'm just ready to be done with it. Don't get me wrong; Tech treats me well. I think I'm just as, maybe even moreso, happy here as I would be anywhere else. It's just school in general that gets me down. I don't learn well in a classroom, I have no motivation to do most of my homework, and overall school just doesn't work for me. However, all is not lost. I did my CAAP advising a few weeks ago, and what did I find? Even if I intern next semester, after going to the Oxford program where I'll get my humanities, CS, and cluster electives out of the way, I'll have to take 14 hours a semester to graduate on time. That's easy as pie. I'm more than ready to be out of here. Funny; a year ago I wanted to be here for 5 years. Amazing what a couple of semesters can do to you. And then it's off to the real world.
In other news, despite me not even asking to be nominated, and indeed saying I didn't want to be nominated to some people, I got nominated for a second term as treasurer. Apparently I'm doing something right. Alas, I declined it. I can't handle another semester as treasurer with class on top of it. I'd love to, but I want more freetime.
Tech won at NC State. Ya know what that means? We have to beat UNC or (not and) Duke, neither of which has beaten a division I-A team all season (Duke is currently on an 18-game losing streak) to go to the ACC Championships. Glad I got my ticket already. And on ESPN.com: "There was a time when Georgia Tech shouldn't beat Georgia, either. That time appears to be over, too (we'll find out for sure on Nov. 25 when the teams meet)." Now I'm trying to decide which is more exciting; Ohio State v. Michigan on November 18th (easily the best college football game in over a decade) or the ACC Championships on December 2nd.
Initiated some pledgie pledges on Friday and Saturday. 100% retention rate what what! Welcome, Nu class.
Went to a Primus concert last night. It was freaking amazing! And I definitely got caught in the worst mosh pits of my life. Too bad I paid $6 per beer. Oy veh.
I feel less like the 3rd wheel between Tiffany and her love affair with architecture. She's trying to get me to spend more and more time with her. Ahhhhmazing.
My dear friend Russ made an insightful observation yesterday. Christmas on the 25th, Han's wedding on the 27th, Tiffany's and my 6-month on the 28th, Mackenzie's wedding on the 29th, New Year's on the 31st. I'll be either drunk or hungover for a week straight.
Apparently the Connect With Tech Advisory Board wants me to apply for next year's board. We'll see after elections on Wednesday.
A few of my brothers shall be joining me on the Oxford trip next summer. Partay!
I think I may write a cover letter now. Any other important information shall be posted later.
