Siege of Shadowgard Keep: Mission 1

Participants:

Phil: a Fabio-like Paladin with wind blown golden locks and a propensity to speak with hands on hips…..

Josh D: A Dwarf Cleric….surely, because that’s how dwarves are

Jordan: A Human Fighter….of stabity death

Brett: A Tiefling Warlock…..of cursey death

Jess: A Dwarf Warlord who thinks himself the greatest strategic mind in history, we’ve yet to see if he’s right

Becca: A Halfling Rouge who, as Squad Leader of this intrepid group, insists on call everyone her “puppies”….no, we don’t know why.

Set up: The squad is charged by General Ghostwolf to proceed to the town of Shadow Grove and secure the plans to Shadowgard Keep so that plans can be made to lay siege to said Keep.

As It Turned Out:

Well the group traveled to Shadow Grove, pausing only to kill a handful of Orc Raiders. Upon arriving at the town and having a rather Monty Python-esc encounter with the town defenders, who are noticeably and understandably reluctant to allow a group of heavily armed soldiers wander through their town no matter who they say they work for, it is decided that one should enter the town unarmed and begin negotiation for the plans with the town elder. That one, in a flash of epic-ness worthy of our group turns out to be Phil the Paladin of the wind blown hair. Now Phil the Paladin has many talents but apparently intimidation and diplomacy aren’t among them because after threating the town elder he fails a diplo check and a intimidate check. Becca upon hearing the shouting in the inn orders Jess to fire bomb the gates and Jordan shield bashes his way though it. Fortunately the guards are basically jumped up farmers who rather than repel the invading adventurers decide to either run to get water to put out the fire, drop their weapon, or stare dumbly at the scene unfolding before them. Meanwhile, back at the inn, Phil interprets the sound of an explosion as his cue to wrestle the guard in front of him and yell at the town elder some more. The town elder, terrified that they cause yet another in a long line of village wildfires decides to give the seemingly unstable Paladin and his diminutive, pyromaniac companions the plans in question. Sadly for the Elder, our intrepid band’s enemies decide to attack at that moment, and subsequently cause yet more fires. Our band at the behest of the valiant dwarves in the group rallied to fend off the invaders, even though the squad leader wanted to flee. The enemies where beaten, the village rebuilt (by the dwarves), and plans were secured. Yay, team.
