Me of Late

So....went to my first major sporting event Saturday, UGA vs Bama. Seats right on the 40 yd line. Tis nice knowing Alumni who donate regularly.

So the Good:
1. Crowd enthusiasm is infectious. I could hate all things sport and still get carried away by the energy in that stadium.
2.I got a free lunch out of Dr. Ross, twas nice of him.

The Bad:

  1. Missed Jordan's birthday goings ons but since my choice was game or work not game or Jordan I manage to suppress my guilt.

  2. The Dawg didn't even show up for the first half. I mean I realize I only have a passing interest in the sport but even I get that 4 fucking penalties in the first half in your own damn stadium is bloody absurd. That said the touch down run from the 8 yd line was fucking awesome.

  3. Georgia lost....but it was their own fault.

  4. Went to the varsity but the chicken there did something horrible to my stomach....been nasus in waves ever since. It only just let up a few hours ago.

Jock stupidity and food poisoning aside I'd say it was a reasonably fun outing.

Topic number 2:

Warhammer Online.

Yet another in the string of MMORPGs that our group has left in it's wake like the broken hearts of Heff's girlfriends. The thing plays almost exactly like World of Warcraft except with a gothic renaissance flavor which I find greatly appealing. Don't look at me like that. I'm a marketing guy. I'm a sucker for swag and good trade dress....don't believe me check my collection of collector's edition games sometime.

Warcraft III

World of Warcraft

Word of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade

Neverwinter Nights

Age of Empires III

World in Conflict

Warhammer Online

Age of Conan

I think you get the idea. Also I apparently like the letter W.......

Anywho, so I'm playing and enjoying myself thoroughly. We shall see when the new MMO glow wares off whether I'm still smitten or if I revert to my old ways. The first sign of trouble however is brewing on the horizon. Brett, who swore that after playing the beta he wants nothing to do with the game, is of course playing it, presumably feverishly. That's rather expected for where Mike Murphy goes so goes Brett. The difficulty lies in extracting said Brett for real world forays and of course the dreaded but inevitable guild drama....God I hate drama, always goes about ruining an otherwise amicable day. Well I for one intend to avoid any server that has the possibility of involving me in that nonsense, even tangentially, like the black death. Hopefully this will minimize the caterwauling and general grumpiness endured in previous forays into the land of fantasy. Well I didn't say it was a perfect plan did I?
