So, it appears as though I do, in fact, have Hashimoto's Disease.

Well, all right.

The pain in my back has reached epic proportions these past few weeks, so I had x-rays taken. My doctor says that, in general, everything looks pretty good; there is evidence of swelling around the sacroiliac and synovial joints, but I'm told that tends to be expected given the severity of my condition.

Then, my doctor paged forward to my lumbar profile.

"Ah, there we go..."

normal lumbar     irregular lumbar

Guess which one is mine. I'll give you a hint: it's not the normal one.

What my doctor thinks is happening is my immune system is also attacking the muscles along my spine, causing them to remain in a constant state of severe spasm. To draw parallels, try flexing your biceps. Go on, flash your guns; I'm not going to laugh. Now, keep them flexed until next Thursday.

Yeah.

My doctor put me on cyclobenzaprine, and I was incredibly optimistic. For a day. Yes, folks, we've finally found something I'm allergic to; holy hives, Batman! Stuffed full of Benadryl, I'm in a holding pattern until Monday, when my doctor returns from a conference (in Mexico! lucky...), and we can figure something else out.

And drowsy Kim is drowsy.

And for some reason, I am unreasonable fond of the Super Bowl commercial for Hulu. Alec Baldwin is full of win.

whine, health
