Belated holiday news occureth herein.

My family, heretofore, has had only a vague understanding of the importance of gaming in my life (and by gaming, I'm referring specifically to video gaming, as mention of my cooperative storytelling endeavors are, and perhaps always shall be, met mostly with the discordant expressions of the moderately confused). I believe we have seen a breakthrough this year, however, as my metaphoric stocking was stuffed with all manners of gaming goodness.

First and foremost, I am pleased to announce that I am now the proud owner of my very own Xbox 360. I did not request a 360. I did not request much at all for Christmas, point of fact. I would much rather give than get, and since my financial situation stymied profusive giving... Let's just say that I was looking most forward to a wool beanie.

I love beanies.

But my mommy got me the Box and some games, and I got games, peripherals, gift certificate to GameStop and Best Buy from other family and friends. I've spent the last week in a next-gen-induced vegetative state.

Almost completely practical (only almost, since they did load my stocking with chocolate and gold dollar coins), my aunt and uncle bought me a fantastic light down winter jacket, because they were tired of seeing me wear fleece hoodies in teen digit weather. Admittedly, given my condition, I seriously needed it. Also, the last such jacket I bought was to accompany me back for my winter term of freshman year. Can we say 1998?

Yes.

Furthermore... Whoo! This thing here is mine, too! She was right; it's about 6.0983% better-looking in person. ilurvmuhsnook.

Coincidentally, my old Xbox went to a very excite girl. And, even though she was showered with clothes and toys, much of which is nearly exorbitantly expensive, all things considered, she loves my gift best -- I got her a mammoth Create-Your-Own Fairytale Book kit, because...get this...not only does she draw, she writes all the time, too. Folks, I'm telling you: That kid couldn't be more like me if I birthed her.

In return, I got a picture she had been working on "for all of a whole week! Or maybe, like, six or seven days..." Also, she snuggled up to me New Year's Eve while we watched the Ball drop, and after we sang Auld Lang Syne, she said, "Happy New Year, Auntie. I love you."

best
gift
