all right, let's try this, before bear starts sending me threatening letters...
i wish i could say things are much better on the home front, but better would be an exaggeration. or, you know, a complete lie. my condition has actually deteriorated over the past couple of weeks. my orthopedic doctor believes i have either
rheumatoid arthritis or
psoriatic arthritis, and has referred me to a rheumatologist. i now sport symptoms in my right knee, the toes of my right foot, my hands and fingers, my right hip and shoulder, and my lower back.
whew.
aside from a general intense ache and stiffness in the morning, my hands are unconditionally the worst.
i draw your attention to the middle finger of my left hand, in which i have experienced a rapid loss of cartilage. the joints are sagging, and my finger is now crooked. there isn't much pain there, though, and no swelling, so it's a small matter compared to my right hand. my thumb, first two fingers, and the area between them and my wrist are swollen and very painful. my middle finger is about twice as large as it should be otherwise, and i can barely move it.
needless to say, this makes my job difficult on a good day, and impossible on a bad one. i'm not sure how much longer i'll be there, but i'm hoping, in the end, that they fire me. this way, i can collect unemployment until i find a new job, so i can pay for health insurance (and boy, do i miss the days when that wasn't a concern).
other than that...
well, i'm alive and smiling, so things could be much worse!
