so, i was going to update last night, but by the time i got home, all i really had the energy to do was slap up a few comments and hit the sack.

let me share my day now.

five.

hours.

in.

traffic.

yes. my shift ends at 1530, and i did not return home until 2030. i cross three bridges on my journey to and fro, and i can tell you, from experience and with conviction, that the DOT wins an epic fail by merely mentioning that bridges, ramps, and overpasses may freeze before roadway.

it should really put the fear of god into people.

because, it doesn't accumulate over time, or anything. it just happens. i'm talking the day after tomorrow flash-freeze, folks. one minute you're in the far left lane, and the next you're scraping your hubcaps on the far right wall of the bridge, and the funny thing? you're in PARK.

with the emergency break on.

so, i waited an hour and a half for the salt trucks to pelt me good enough to roll off the bridge and not over it (seriously, if the wall of the bridge wasn't solid concrete, my truck could be tailgating fish in the severn river). then, not a mile down the road, i run into another traffic jam. i sat in this one for three and a half hours. i so mean sat. we did not move.

and i had to pee.

i don't normally get upset in traffic. i mean, it's usually caused by an accident, which means someone's in worse shape than me, or profound stupidity, about which i can do very little.

what made me kinda angry last night, however, is that we had warning the weather would be so bad. for once, every weatherman, civilian and military, agreed that the icy rain, it was a-comin'. even doppler got in on that mess. i have NO idea why, then, the salt trucks wouldn't have been sent to key locations (bridges and ramps on major thoroughfares, maybe?) as soon as it started.

i guess fishtailers look funny on traffic cams?

whine, shenanigans
