So in the last week while I was sick I got it into my head that I should start dabbling in
High Dynamic Range (HDR) photography.
After compiling the tools I needed, I took some sample photos of the pets and a candle holder, and fired up
Luminance HDR to see what I could do

There was a bit of disappointment with the cat photos, as he was in a darker area with the light bands from the blinds striping across parts of him.
I'll see if I can start with something tried and true like dusk and see what happens!

My results without a tripod have been so-so.

On the week-end I specifically set-up with my tri-pod, but ironically the image I had the most luck with I didn't use it. Of course, for anything with more than 3 exposures (aka the auto-bracket) I don't think I'd be able to pull it off.
But yeah, it seems that when-ever a tripod is really in need, it's never around.
Though I am quite intrigued about the one approach of using a single RAW image and manually creating different exposures. I know it may not be quite as dynamic, but apparently it can be used to pull some older photos back into the world of the living.
