I have returned from my trip.  It was great to see my family again- especially my cousin of almost 2 years!  Both my mother and father's families live in the same small, rural city, but we always stay with my mother's family.  My dad is one of 11 kids so I have many cousins.  My father doesn't make much of an effort to connect with his family so he's not very close with them, so we stay with my mother's family because her family is much smaller and much more intimate.  Which is why I absolutely ADORE my new cousin (who feels more like a niece because of our age difference).  My mom has two sisters, one almost exactly a year younger, and a baby sister who is twenty years younger (or so).  The "baby sister" as she's known in their family had a baby two years ago (obviously) and I have never been more excited!  I am an only child so I've never been around babies or young kids that much before, so I was really ecstatic when I found out I would have a baby cousin in my family!  (I don't really count my dad's family, because I seriously don't even know everyone's names.)  She is so cute!!  She can actually understand when you talk to her a little, and she can say several words.  So cute!!  I only wish we lived closer so I could see her more than twice a year.

One night during our trip I had a pretty bad fever.  That day my parents and I had gone to a wedding party (on my dad's side) of people I don't know and it was very sunny outside.  I had fun talking to the few people in my dad's family I know and enjoy, and I even learned the names and faces of a family and we became friends!  I took a picture of them so that I could remember who they are the next time I see them.  How pathetic is that?  But otherwise I will forget!  But speaking of pictures, when they found out I went to Japan for a week they made me show them the pictures of the trip which I still had on my camera.  I take very bad and uninteresting pictures.  I really do.  So they had to stand there in the hot sun for 15 minutes while I showed them pictures and said over and over again things like, "And this is a picture of people smoking, and this is a picture of a SOCK store that actually sells only socks and tights and such how awesome is that?  and this is a weird looking car I kept seeing, and this is a picture of the inside of Tokyo Tower, ... still inside Tokyo Tower,... inside of Tokyo Tower,...oh- these are pictures my dad took of the view from Tokyo Tower that he insisted on taking from every side and angle,... still the view,... more of the view,... almost done with the view I think,...  I swear guys we are almost done, I'm pretty sure the end is coming up really soon!  Just a couple things more and we're done, I swear! ... um, this is a picture of the of a map of the train station system, ... this is a picture of a store window that had stuffed elephants,...... uh, um... this is a Japanese homeless man.... "  I felt so bad about it.  They were expecting interesting pictures and I gave them... uh, yeah.  Well then.

Oh!  I was talking about my fever!  And that, ladies and gentlemen, was an excellent example of what we here in America call a "tangent."   Ok, long story short- the day standing outside gave me a fever, I felt light-headed and fuzzy (my head I mean), but it was perfectly bearable until I tried to fall asleep.   It was really, REALLY hot and it made me almost delirious.  I lingered on the verge of sleep, languishing in the combined heat of my fever and the humidity of the night.  I kept thinking I was hearing things, which I'm pretty sure was me half dreaming in my half asleep state.  I finally fell asleep and felt much better the next day, but I was still very disoriented and weak.  Which sucked because it was that day that I finally got to spend time at the library and I wasn't able to enjoy it as much as I should have.

Anyway, I had a fantastic time, but I'm glad to be back home.  Of course now that I'm home, I have no excuse not to do all the things I have left on my to-do list.  Ug.  I'll be starting all that tomorrow.  I'm soo not looking forward to it.  I have to write 5 papers in four days!!  I'm horrible at writing papers!  It takes me forever!!        ~SIGH~

SOOO NOT looking forward to this weekend.
