From talking to Loopy, she indicated that she had problems understanding my approach and figuring out how to work with me. I'm sure this has caused a lot of frustration between her and I, and probably is the source of frustration for someone else, so I wanted to address it.
I view the Coord structure as a managerial board, with the Genre Coords as managers of respective departments, and the Sect Coord as the president.
I manage my department, Chad manages his, Loopy manages hers, and so forth.
When someone else brings something up regarding their clan genre, I try very hard not to tell them how to manage their show. They have subcoords and the the Cam Coord for advisors. I'll look over stuff and make suggestions/point out some issues with wording, or something, but by and large, I try to stay out of another "department's" business.
Therefore, when I bring something up and one or more Coords disagree with me, I go to the Cam Coord and say "What do you think?" Then I do what the Cam Coord says, whether I agree with it or not. It's his job to manage overall Cam Genre, after all. He's the "President."
There you go. That's my approach.
==========
Now, progression of conflict. This is closely related to my approach, which is why this is one post.
Here's my side of things:
I bring up X.
Someone disagrees with me.
I respond by giving my reasons behind X.
Someone still disagrees with me.
I decide to agree to disagree, and turn to the Cam Coord for guidance.
I do what the Cam Coord says. If he agrees with X, I do X.
Someone gets upset that I did X, when they said not to do X, and say things that I feel are insulting towards me.
I get angry and/or defensive and respond.
Things escalate, and usually go very poorly.
The second time this happened, I decided to walk away from the Coord list for a week rather than continue the escalation. I apologize if people were insulted by my action, but I felt it was the best thing to do at the time. I do not refuse to communicate with any single Coord. I do not refuse to work with any single Coord. I do refuse to get into escalating arguments, though, and I will walk away from them as often as I can manage. I feel that in one on one conversations, more gets accomplished because communication is easier and more linear, which is why I tend to take that approach when working with one of you.
