Weekly Recs 7/15/10

Completed Stories:

"Trouble Rides a Fast Horse" by Audrey2419 ( audrey2419)

Summary: Tony's past as an Agent Afloat comes back to haunt him as he becomes entangled in a web of drug smuggling and espionage.
KEW note: This story strikes an excellent balance between an intriguing original character and plenty of time devoted to the characters we know and love. The sequel, "Nothing but Trouble", is also a very good read.
"A Glass of Chardonnay" by Richefic
[PG-13, Tony, Gibbs, set during 6x25 "Aliyah" and 7x01 "Truth or Consequences"]
Summary: Tony knows he can hold out against Vance's questions, Eli David's interrogation, and even Saleem's truth serum. Leroy Jethro Gibbs is another matter entirely.
KEW note: Confession time: unlike just about every other NCIS fanfic fan, I've never counted Richefic's work among my favorites (no slight meant to him or her). But this one definitely ups the ante. Chapters 3 and 4 are awesome.

Summary: An investigation takes the team to Pearl Harbor as Tony and Ziva try to navigate their 'relationship', Gibbs tries to look the other way, and McGee tries to get a clue.
KEW note: Two chapters completed so far. The story hasn't really gotten rolling yet, but I've been a big enough fan of jelenamichel's prior work to include this on faith.
"Half a World Away" by Squinttoyou *NEW
[Bones, PG-13, Booth/Brennan, set post 5x22 "The Beginning in the End"]
Summary: The world is a big place, but it's not that hard to stay in touch.
KEW note: The best post-finale, epistolary fic I've seen. (Props to tempertemper77 for pointing me in the direction of this one.)

Author's Summary: Tension erupts at NCIS when Jeanne returns to D.C., pursued by an arms dealer searching for a naval weapon previously owned by her father. Tony struggles to maintain control and keep his developing relationship with Ziva a secret.
