well, that's what mr jen says, at least.
i was watching the federer match last night, minding my own business, when mr jen calls me up. we sat there for a little while, talking about this and that, when he brings up the agassi-blake match. oh no, i thought, because lately the whole idea of blake has gotten mr jen and i into big fights. He's from Fairfield! He's doing well! He's a good guy! Mr jen would cry out. Um, no, he's NOT from Fairfiels, he like lived there for a year; he's only doing well because he's a) beating a whole bunch of guys who suck and in the case of the nadle thing, b) he's got lucky here and there. also, he's NOT good because he wont shave and he smells. like nadle.
so i figured mr jen would finally agree with me that blake wasnt at all so great and its about time somebody beat him. i guess i never learn.
he was like, oh, you never liked blake and you should've because he's the home guy and all you care about is the french! you unpatriotic BITCH! (add the words "fucking" and "fuck" in there overy couple of syllables)
i responded with: um, MORON, agassi is an american, and agassi has always been my favorite player, and he is WAY better than blake, even though he's so old, and i KNEW blake was going to lose, and the only reason he won pilot pen is because there was NOBODY good there, and YOU DONT KNOW ONE GODDAMN THING ABOUT TENNIS SO SHUT YOUR MOUTH BEFORE I DRIVE A SOCKET WRENCH THROUGH YOUR FACE!!!!!!!!!!! and, i must add, i am more patriotic now than i ever have been throughout my life! i like america. it's a nice place.
and he got really mad because i "dont respect blake and therefore have no respect for the sport." which is NOT true because i DO respect blake, and i congratulate the guy on doing the best of his career, and i said, "but i dont have to like the guy!"
"Yes, you do."
"No, I don't."
"Yes, you do."
"No, I DON'T."
...
"Yes, you do."
and at that point i stormed out of the room and vowed never to speak to that guy again.
angst,
