According to
this article (passed along from a source that usually asks to be left anonymous), the Academy Awards, along with expanding the Best Picture nominations from five to ten, will adopt the same sort of Instant Runoff Voting that we use for the Hugo Awards and other WSFS elections. Until now, they've been using first-past-the-post, so there may well have been Best Picture winners that got only about 21% of the vote, with the remaining votes split among the other nominees.
