I mentioned that I ran completely out of wood in the indoor wood box yesterday. That is primarily because Kayla did not feel like going outside in her office clothes, and I knew that there was more wood close at hand if we really needed it. Here is how we stage the firewood.
In this view from the living room, you can see the fireplace at left, the small cardboard box that holds up to 24 Press-to-Logs at right, and the front door in the distance.
Standing in the front doorway, you can see the medium wood box that sits on the front porch. There is 2-3 days worth of wood here.
Finally, here's a view of the porch box with the large wood box in the distance, down three steps to the sidewalk and just a few more steps to the box itself. I estimate that the big box can hold 450-500 logs, although we've never completely filled it. A pallet of logs from Big R is 390 logs.
Kayla could have stepped outside and got a few logs if necessary. It was not as if she was unwilling to go outside at all; she walked down to the other end of the property a couple of times on Friday. She just was being a little lazy and leaving the work to me.
