Reno Restocking Trip

Jul 18, 2024 21:32

Today Lisa and I went to Reno possibly for the last time before we head off to Europe next Thursday. Some of today's errands were normal, and others were specifically for the trip.

First off was dropping the recycling, which was piling up. I don't want to have to deal with that when I get back at the end of the trip.

Next was a specific-to-the-trip item: Lisa wanted more shirts, as it's been way too long since we were able to stock up at her go-to store in Salem. It's surprisingly difficult to get plain t-shirts, and we ended up going to three places (one of which won't sell you plain shirts; you have to pay for their printing) before getting close enough.

Along the way we stopped at Staples to buy a couple of reams of paper. We've been printing a lot of stuff and used up all of our plain paper, having to resort to using part of the single ream of three-ring-punched paper we've had sitting around for a long time.

The last of the shirt places happens to be a couple doors down from a tea shop that we've never seen before. We had a look at it, and I bought some Darjeeling tea, which Cost Plus World Market used to carry but stopped doing so a few years ago. I may hold off opening this package of tea until I get home.

We went out to Verdi because several months ago, I bought some California Lottery tickets there, and happened to have $8 worth of winners. I put off collecting the tickets, and on at least one occasion I forgot to take them with me when I happened to be going into California. I'd intended to get them when we went to record the Big Boy, but because the train was delayed, we ended up going out there so late that the lottery sales office was closed. Had I put this off any longer, the ticket would have expired, so we made trip down to Exit 2 to collect the tickets.

Our final stop was at Raley's for some grocery items to carry us through (aside from thing we can get locally in Fernley) until we leave next week.

This sounds simple, but we ended up being out for more than five hours. I'm glad the air conditioning in the Astro continues to work.

Soon we are going to start packing, which is going to be complicated, what with all of the things we're going to be doing. I hope we can make everything fit into one checked bag per person and don't have to pay for extra luggage charges.

reno, travel
