We had several things that needed to get done in Reno during "working hours," including some with time constraints, so as I soon as I could get off work today, we headed in to get as much done as we could.
- Bank of America: Collect Euros we ordered a few days ago for Lisa. She'll be traveling in Europe on a Eurail Pass after Worldcon and wanted euros up front partially because it doesn't appear to be possible to tell our banks that we're traveling anymore. They seems to say that their algorithms handle everything. That could get dicey if it doesn't work on the day.
- Dump recycling. Because the recycle station closes at 3 PM, it was the most constrained stop. We made it with about fifteen minutes to spare.
- Jo-Ann Fabrics looking for a item they ended up not having.
- West Marine for a bit of specialty electronic connectors Lisa had not been able to find elsewhere.
- Raley's for grocery items that WinCo Foods does not stock.
It was around 37°C today, which is pretty hot. Thank goodness the air conditioning in the Astro works now. However, it bogs down in city driving, so we only got the full effect while driving between Fernley and Reno/Sparks on I-80. This was also the first time that the rear air conditioning has worked in years, as a previous shop threw up their hands on a repair and simply cut it off from the main system.
It was, however, a decent test to confirm that the A/C works under conditions that will likely apply when we drive to Westercon in Salt Lake City in a few weeks.
