Shifting Logs Between Storms

Feb 02, 2024 10:27

It stopped raining this morning, but it is forecast to start again later today, so while Lisa was awake, I took a break from Day Jobbe (with the permission of my manager) and Lisa and I set to shifting another ton of firewood from the utility trailer to the wood box.

Here's what the supply looked like when we started. Each row is about two days' worth of fire logs, depending on how cold it is outside. Including wood in "forward" locations, we had around two weeks' supply still on hand.

About ninety minutes later, the box looked like this. We estimate that is around six weeks' supply unless it gets really cold.

Our biggest concern continues to be a disruption upstream in the supply chain. If we can build a second wood box, we can keep stuff in stock for more than a month at a time.
