Christmas Larder Refill

Dec 20, 2023 20:31

This afternoon, as soon as I could get off work, Lisa and I drove into Reno for a great deal of shopping.

There was a minor errand at Staples to start: I lost all of my pens and pencils (and the Worldcon 76 pocket protector in which I was carrying them) during Loscon 49, so I needed a new mechanical pencil and eraser-pencil.

Cost Plus World Market was very busy, but there we could get some food things that are hard to get elsewhere.

Whole Foods Market: nice cheese, some organic eggnog, and some dye-free multi-vitamins.

WinCo Foods: Big grocery shopping. Store seemed very busy, but I bet it will be worse this weekend.

Raley's O-N-E Market in South Reno: A Christmas ham, cheese that we can't get at Whole Foods Market, what will probably be the last jug of Strauss Farms eggnog, and some other stuff that isn't available in the other stores.

This totaled up to more than $400 in groceries, and fitting it all into the Rolling Stone was a slight challenge, but Lisa managed.

Unloading took quite a while. The larders are very full, but this means that aside from perishables like milk and eggs, we may just be able to stay home through Christmas and New Year's, which I think will suit us just fine.
