This afternoon, I felt (barely) recovered enough to go run errands. I tested negative for COVID yesterday, and Lisa decided that I had been cautious enough at Costume-Con 39 to end her quarantine from me. (It's easy to quarantine because of the travel trailer.) So around 1:30 PM, we set off for Reno.
First was the recycling drop, which has to be done by 3 PM because that's when they close the drop location.
Next was Staples, where we were looking for several things, but the only thing they had that we wanted was some photo paper. I'll need a photo for my Chinese visa application, and the size they specify is not the passport size, so I'll need to take a photo and shrink it down to the size they require. No reason to give them an immediate reason to reject the application on technical grounds.
Next was a Cost Plus World Market, which was mainly a target of opportunity because we were actually in that shopping center to go into Bed Bath and Beyond. As some of you may know, BB&A is going out of business, so we figured this was a final opportunity to shop there. We bought a new comforter for the bed and a couple of new pillows (one of which was made in Ukraine!), some sheet sets, and a few other items at discounts of 10-30%. We didn't absolutely need any of these things, but we figured it would be a good thing to get out ahead of the curve for a couple of years at least.
Lush was our next stop. This was my first time in Lush in Reno since they opened a store here in a year or two ago. As it happens, I'd bought stuff in Lush in Montreal twice during that time, and during much of the pandemic I was doing mail order. I'd accumulated a whole lot of empty containers over the past three-plus years, and as they now offer $1/container for returning them, I managed to get roughly one new container of Cosmetic Lad (my after-shave cream) for free.
Raley's was the last stop. Here, our list was cut short because I'd forgotten to pack the ice-bags when I was packing the recycling. But it wasn't a total loss. We headed home around 5 PM, and to my relief we somehow managed to miss the worst of the traffic.
Tomorrow, thank goodness, I don't have any immediate commitments, and don't have to set an alarm. I really do still need some more rest from CC39.
