Fernley to Tonopah, In Convoy

Jun 28, 2022 23:59

It took much longer to get the trailer (and our vehicles) loaded than we expected. It did not help that Tuesday turns out to have been the hottest day this week. Anyway, we secured the house and pulled out at 4:30 PM. It's a little over 200 miles to Tonopah, but U-Haul says not to exceed 55 mph towing their trailers, and while my minivan has a decent towing capacity, there were hills along the way that taxed the van. In any event, we got to the Belvada Hotel in Tonopah about 9:15 PM. It took a long time (more than two hours) to unload our personal luggage and those things that needed to be stored in the hotel room, but we got it done.

Tomorrow we don't have specific commitments. We did forget some things, but nothing serious, it appears. I forgot the charger cable for my iPhone, but I can get another one from the Vanwood Variety Store across the street, and tonight I can use the very short cable from my reserve battery. There's other stuff that needs doing, but we have Wednesday to get it done. And also Wednesday to leave the alarm turned off and get some sleep.
