Winter Road Trip Day 16: North Las Vegas to Tonopah NV (via the Extraterrestrial Highway)

Today's journey was ambitious, especially during the third week of a road trip, but I've never been over the Extraterrestrial Highway (NV-375), and the weather was good, so we decided to take the Road Much Less Traveled. I drove on the Extraterrestrial Highway, for much the same reason - because it's there - in 2004, on my way to Corflu in Vegas. So I took it in the opposite direction from you, and yes, the sign you saw at the south end did also exist at the north end, at least back then. The Little A'Le'Inn was there then too, but I didn't stop.

I'm thinking we probably missed it in the growing darkness. We were sufficiently concerned about getting to Tonopah before dark that we were not going to spend time looking for it.

hi. i don't know how i got here, but i became intrigued with the ET reference and read and enjoyed your exposition of your trip!
i drove through las vegas long ago, and never had a clue about area 51 back then
i wasn't aware of the extraterrestrial highway.
i learned something real about it
not the orson welles version )))
at first i thought your were doing a road trip like jack kerouac, whom i love

The low-flying aircraft warning signs are still there, and they're serious, I think, with all of the experimental aircraft activity in the area. (Lisa says that the entire region is a military operations area.)
