Today, I went comic shopping. I knew what street the comic shop was on, and I was pretty sure I remembered which stop on the L it was.
Turns out I was wrong. I got off at the Fullerton stop and roamed around for a bit trying to find the store. Ultimately, I stopped in at Bank One, sampled the free punch they had out for customers (I have an account there, too, so even if I were prone to feel guilty about it, I wouldn't), and asked a personal banker for directions back to an L stop or to Chicago Comics.
Turns out I was at about the halfway point between the Fullerton stop and the Belmont stop (which is where I needed to be). So I continued hiking to Belmont and bought my comics. Checking now, I see that, if I add a little extra distance for wandering, I walked about two miles. I feel like I spent the whole day walking uphill.
On the plus side, I won't soon forget which exit the comic shop is at, now.
