I was at a party where I knew no-one but the one person who invited me. But we were in inner southeast and there was a fair size crowd there, so I kept expecting someone else I'd met to turn up. Didn't happen though.

On Tuesday evening pdx.rb was host to Merlyn's first attempt at organizing a coding dojo. The process we used is most like what that site describes as the randori kata, starting from scratch and rotating who was at the keyboard every five minutes.

Village Building Convergence 7 is looking like it has lined up a bunch of pretty incredible music. Three Leg Torso, Josh Ritter, Jujuba, Vagabond Opera... and that's just like half of 'em.

Friday evening:

While I was stopped at a light, one of Portland's less sober-seeming cyclists rolled up beside me. "You're just a bike tramp scooter trash," he slurred, looking me (or perhaps my bike) over. I said nothing in response. And then, just as the light turned green and I was pulling away, I heard "and that's a pretty good thing."
