I like
these. They feel vaguely steampunky to me.
Had a fantastically fabulous weekend with market and cirque du soleil up-close-and-personal, World Naked Bike Ride (for N), boat shuttle ride (for A), music garden, sleeping late, pancakes, bike ride, park, picnic, and some down time with 3rd season Lost (no spoilers; we're really behind).
Got video of cirque folk, but can't upload it from my camera as I don't have enough space left on my hard drive. Have not heard anything from powerbook seller and am giving up hope. will probably take it to iRepair and have them work their magic. I will be cheating on my vow of not buying new electronics by doing so. :(
Felt blah all day long.
Am upset that none of N's family will be in town to celebrate A's 2nd birthday, as they're all going to a family reunion in SK. Don't think we'll be able to go to this one, unless someone magically wants and is able to spend $$$ on airfare to get us there. I'm now freaked out about flying, to be perfectly honest. I look forward to the day when train travel is practical and not billed as "an experience". $750 for airfare for two adults, one 2-year old. $2400 for the same, and it takes two fucking days. Across prairie. Where are the superfast trains that Japan has? Why don't we have them here?
I miss my family (my grandparents, mostly). Having affordable, superfast trains would make seeing them easier.
Circus tomorrow and hopefully trinity-bellwoods market, too, if I can get it together enough to make food for a picnic dinner. dropping by the Lab tomorrow night to pick up my dead hard drive from
secretsoflife. going to take that to ADR for data recovery. It will gnaw my brain apart not getting the data off there. I know this because it's been gnawing away for the year and a half I've lived without it. I miss my music so much! And all those early photos of the Smallest... so priceless! And my research. argh...
Camping next week in Kilarney.
