organic food notes

I've been eating from the Dufferin Grove Organic Farmers' Market for a few weeks now and have been totally loving it. I've tried oranges, pears, avocados, kale, red leaf lettuce, swiss chard, parsnips, onions, green onions, broccoli, bananas, lemons, and... um... I think that's about it for produce. Oh, and salicornia, which is also known as sea asparagus. It's yummy!

I haven't noticed much of a difference in taste with the following exceptions:

avocados, lemons, and bananas

They
Are
Phenomenal
.

The avocados are sumptuously buttery and full of win: the pit separates perfectly from the flesh every time. The lemons, which I only just tried today, are beautifully tart with a hint of sweetness I've never tasted before in a lemon. Tasted like lemonade!

And the bananas. OMG the bananas. Fair Trade from Ecuador; a whopping $1.50/lb, but SO EFFING WORTH IT! It tastes like... like bananas SHOULD taste. I always thought that banana-flavoured things were just too over the top, as though they were trying too hard to be banana-y. And then I tried these bananas, and wow. Just wow. I was totally bowled over by the scent and flavour. I had no idea that they were supposed to taste this good! These bananas are definitely made of pure awesome and I highly recommend them.
