the teething nightmare has begun

Oct 15, 2007 20:58

someone flipped the teething switch last night:

today's schedule has been completely fucked and now A is crying inconsolably, but less so when we shove the frozen washcloth into his mouth for him to chew on, which he has been doing. the washcloth is now thawed and we do not have any other frozen ones (though, I tossed a few more into the freezer, so they'll be ready for tomorrow's fun). wrapping ice chips in the wet cloth for him to gum is not as satisfying, unfortunately.

he didn't take his usual 11-1 nap today. No, he didn't. Instead, he cried off and on for a half hour, then doze-nursed for an hour, then cried again for half an hour, until I swaddled him and bounced him: gone in two minutes. (we'd tried everything but swaddling until that point.) he slept from 2:15 until 4, doze-nursed until 5-fucking-30 and was doze-nursing again at just before 6:30 for a half hour. The crying began around 7:45. It's 9pm now and he JUST fell asleep.

We have ordered an amber teething necklace (diss it and I'll kill you), and homeopathic teething remedies will be procured tomorrow, if at all possible.

He's only 11 weeks old :-(

I'm SO glad I posted my teething question this past weekend. go go mother's intuition and desire for preparedness.

parenthood, fire child, teething, just shoot me now, doom
