Thing One: Say you're using public transit, sitting in an aisle seat, and the person sitting near the window needs to get to the aisle. Do everyone a favour and get up, too. Do not sit there and turn in your seat thinking you're doing the other person a favour by moving at all, especially when there's No One Else In The Aisle. No One. Get The Fuck Up, you lazy bastard. Do not make me squeeze by you when I'm weighed down by a backpack and a very long coat on a hanger, you unsympathetic, selfish fuck. Get. Up.
Thing Two: When you find things on a bus or a streetcar, be kind and take them to the driver. Don't pocket your new find. Some jerk-off stole my isotoner gloves on the bus earlier today. Granted, I didn't pay money for them, so I can't be too pissed... in theory. Nikos found each hand on separate occasions laying in the street and picked both of them up last winter. He realised he had a matched set and was going to give them to Lynx, but then she found her isotoners, so then I had new-to-me gloves... for all of 2 weeks. I think I'm more mad at myself for losing them than I am at the guy who took off with them. I'm usually really good about not losing things. I've never lost a pair of sunglasses. I've misplaced my keys once. I had the same pair of (different) isotoners for 9 years before they got too ratty to use. They bit the dust last winter. So now I need new gloves. :(
Thing Three: Note to self: Eat, you twit. Bring a snack with you even -- I don't care if you just had breakfast. Take time to get out of the cold and grab a bite, esp. if you have the cash to spare and no place you need to be right at that moment. Do this so your blood sugar doesn't drop and you end up getting more annoyed and pissed off at things than you normally would. Save everyone the grief. Please?
*deep, cleansing breath*
Thing Four:
drui_en is marvelous! She graciously accompanied me to Romni Wools today and she's right! The ladies there aren't so bad. I think it's probably important that it wasn't the weekend. That was definitely a contributing factor to the happiness of the experience. I got 3 skeins of creamy-coloured mixed fibre yarn, a set of tapestry needles, and a pair of wooden knitting needles that look fabulous! Thank you so much for a wonderful afternoon!
Thing Five: It was great seeing
outcastspice, brief as it was. She gave me the aforementioned coat! I now have a dressy-type black wool coat for cold weather. Yay! I still haven't tried it on properly (modeling and posing narcissistically in front of a mirror), but it's a good length and the arms and shoulders fit, which is most important. All else can be taken care of later, if need be.
Thing Six: Art On is evil good. I looked over their new store and ended up purchasing more than I needed to in pendant-type beads. And then I went next door to the old store and picked up some silk-type cord. I also noted that the new store has a wire jig that I covet and a bead reamer that I need very badly. I have a rosary project that I started two years ago that I've needed to put on hold because the holes in the beads I'm using are not large enough for the findings to fit through. Damn and blast. But there exists a bead reamer, which sounds icky and wrong and it's definitely something I want to get my hands on.
I have also decided that I'm not yet going to give in to monochromatic hair. I think that I'm going to leave my hair streaky until I can't stand it anymore. I'm not yet ready to give it up. I will enjoy teal hair (soon! finances willing) and deal with the split-end consequences -- my psyche will be much happier with the extra colour come dreary February. Besides, I bought a huge bottle of cream developper that I don't want to see get dusty and old from lack of use. Sorry, Nutmeg; this is not your time. You will get used eventually, though, so fear not.
