when indulgences go bad

i had ice cream twice yesterday and once today. I barely had enough protein to cover the ice cream indulgences of yesterday and experienced a bit of agitation as my blood sugar dropped (as opposed to plummetted). Today, I had extremely little protein to pad out the sugar, and as a result, I feel like utter horse shit. I am cranky, bitchy, neurotic ( Read more... )

Being desperately unsuited for full-time work does not mean you are screwed. Being desperately unsuited for full-time work and not knowing it would be pretty bad.

I'm also desperately unsuited for full-time work. So, I work a day or two a week, most weeks, and manage to survive on that. I have enough time spare to undertake a full-time music degree, which is fairly time-intensive.

In future I'll probably work two or three days a week rather than one or two, with regard to work outside the home (I don't consider gardening, spinning, crocheting, cooking, preserving, or foraging to be "work", although many people would - I'm not sure if I'd suddenly feel different about them if I had to do them). I am managing alright at the moment on one or two days but I live very frugally and don't save much money, and after I've finished my degree I have some other plans which will require some initial capital investment. Besides that, I like my work and wouldn't mind being able to do a bit more of it.

It did take me a while to get to this stage - I had to work some office jobs part-time for a while, and if there's anyone who shouldn't be doing office work it's me. I must also emphasize that I do budget very carefully and live really quite frugally to pull this off. But, you know, that isn't so bad when I am doing work I love and the rest of my time is my own.

Find out what you love to do, and then figure out a way that people will pay you for doing that or something related to it. Your work should contribute to the things you love, not take away from it.

More about how to do this another time, if you like.

In an entirely unrelated note, I'm now in Oshawa, and I'll know sometime this week when I'll be coming to Toronto. Are there particular days when you are free?
