series, plotholes, and stuff like that (also: SQUEE MERLIN OMGYAY)

I started reading the Kuroshitsuji manga. I had to stop, because the dialogue was sort of ridiculous (“I am the butler of DEATH!”), and because the anachronisms made me froth at the mouth.

I started watching Supernatural yesterday, and spend most of the time sort of raising my eyebrow (random fact: I am not actually capable of raising my eyebrow) at the screen and the shenanigans there. It's cute enough for me to want to keep watching, for now (who am I kidding, they remind me of Ed and Al. Of course I'm hooked!), but I'm not exactly captivated or anything.

For a while I read the Skip! Beat manga, and couldn't stand the ridiculous plotline. The ~coincidences~ were just too much for me, as was the blatant lack of realism (crazy stalker girl drives the producer nuts so he agrees to turn her into an idol. Uh huh). Though, Skip! Beat is actually pretty cute, despite its failings. I may pick it up again some day.

For a while it seemed that Katekyo Hitman Reborn or Hetalia would fill the void in my fandom-loving soul, providing me with a series that makes me look for other fans to squeal with.

KHR had a lot going for it - namely, Gokudera. And Yamamoto. And Gokudera. I'll stop. But after the fuckery of that Oh-But-It-Was-ACTUALLY-A-Training Arc, I kind of stepped away from it.
And Hetalia is just too silly, and too canon-slashy for me right now.

And what is the point of all this?

The point is that I'm in love with BBC's Merlin.

Merlin is ridiculous. The plot - what little there is - is kinda silly, the characterization is sketchy, the anachronisms are having a big party with beer and snacks, and they've invited the plot holes to come and play. By all rights, I should not be able to stomach this show.

But every episode I sit there, with a goofy smile on my face (:D) and nod along to their adorable shenanigans and giggle at the stupid jokes. And then later, when I think about it, I'm like whoa, that was really kinda strange. Look at all the plot holes.

But I don't care. I'm happy, and it's been a while since I've looked forward to a new episode of something this way. I'm sad to admit it, but even FMA:B doesn't excite me as much as 2x02 of Merlin.

I don't think I'm falling out of love with FMA. If I were going to jump ship, I would have done it when I was squeeing over the first season of Merlin. And that's why I won't be writing fic for Merlin, because I suspect it would eat my life (also, there's no alchemy, and no matter how amusing Merlin and Arthur are together, they still don't beat Ed/Alfons for my affections).

I want to make Merlin-fandom friends, though. I want to squee over them and blithely go on watching this silly, silly series, and enjoy every moment of it.
Boy am I out of practice with joining new fandoms :(

This was brought to you by the fact that today I watched the first episode of season 2, and fell in love all over again.
