Iron Man, or: How Robert Downey Jr. Kicked Tobey Maguire In the Groin

May 05, 2008 19:21

I just saw Iron Man.
You should see it, too.
After you do, take a look at my GIANT, SPOILER-SOAKED SQEE-FEST OF A REVIEW!

Okay. Wow.
I didn't even want to see Iron Man.
I'm so very, very glad that I did.

Squee:
1. Robert Downey Jr. is fine. And when I say 'fine,' I don't mean 'acceptable,' or 'nice.' I mean completely, unabashedly talented and hot. ( Read more... )

My English teacher and class were talking about Iron Man today. About all I know are his rants about pre-movie commercials and product placements- seeing that I was surreptitiously studying for math. Again. *cough*

I think I'll see it when friends closer to home drag me to the theatre/show it at movie night/bring it to church-friend-family dinners. *resists* (Transformers was fun.)

In other news, I really do have practically all May off, but my first exam in 36 hours.

How's the Jupiter excursion coming along?

Hm. You've got a ranty English teacher too, huh?
Mine's a hardcore Evangelical Baptist who didn't read 'Pride and Prejudice' until she was in her forties because, and I quote, "Some nahce, Chriistian guurl iin hur claass" recommended it to her. *sigh* Only a week left of AP English, thank God.
*snerks* 'Surreptitiously studying for math.' I could just be very tired, but for some reason I find that phrase to be funny.
(Actually, I can only remember one instance of product placement and it was justified. And HILARIOUS.)
I've never seen 'Transformers.' Was it really good?
Don't resist, Rose! 'Iron Man' will warm you to the core of your sci-fi-loving soul!
That's how my May's looking to be. Almost to the letter.
I'm half-way through the Jupiter mini-fic. It's looking to be a bit odd, but when have I written anything that's NOT? XD
Also- Good luck on your exams, Rose!

If an ex-IB teacher counts as ranty, why yes I have a ranty, slightly controversial teacher. (Not as controversial as the SS and Physics teachers, but opinionated.) It's also an okay regular class too, for a regular class. I usually spend a quarter of class staring off into the distance while other people discuss movies, celebrities, society's obsession with celebrities, charities, technology...

I haven't read Pride and Prejudice. If I ever, it will be after I get through Wintersmith, The Elegant Universe, Flatterland and The Trouble with Physics. [You know, the first thing I recall a boy buying for me was The Trouble with Physics- on the understanding that I'd pay him back. Well hey, discount!]

Transformers kept reminding me of Doctor Who, Stargate and many science fiction cliches. It was hilarious, and fun, and I really liked the modeling/animation of the Transformers. And, erm, the Cube. I wonder why. >.>

Don't resist, Rose! 'Iron Man' will warm you to the core of your sci-fi-loving soul! But I caaaaan't give in! There's no TIME ( ... )

Sorry to barge into yet another thread with absolutely nothing relevant to say 'bout it, buuut I was wonderin' if you'd heard anything from the Summer Science Program. I found out on Monday that I was accepted but have been too preoccupied since then to make any inquiries before now.

Any good news yet? Do tell!

That's all right! Barge away! I enjoy being barged upon. :) As long as it's okay if I show up at your journal with nothing relevant to say. Heh.
I GOT IN, TOO! Yay! Looks like we're both going, huh? God, I'm going to have to bring my Brit-TV show DVD's. We could get a jump start on the British Television Club.... Hmm... 'Brit Bit'....
I'm SO bringing my tea.
:D

You have my express permission to barge in at whim. As a matter of fact, non-germane comments are probably necessary at my journal, as most of my entries are variations of "I AM ANGRY AT THINGS" or "la de da~"

Hooray for us! I am kind of freaking ooout, though. I graduate in less than a week, I have to know in what manner I will be arriving at Williams in even less time than that, and I still have to coordinate separate visits to my dad in Hawaii and to other members of my family scattered along the east coast at large. Needless to say, there won't be an abundance of time for me this summer. And then, of course, there's the Program itself. I keep being tragically reminded of how much I dislike math and how tedious chemistry is. And what should I pack?! How will I keep myself provided with tea?! These are the dilemmas I face!

My mom suggested that I start a Tea Club. But naturally it may encompass all things delightful and British.

I suspect that I will have to befriend an electric kettle at some point.

i made icons, and more are in the works.

LOOK AT THEM! i even stole from you!

also, i have a question about distortion when making icons. do you have trouble with your lettering becoming distorted? do you have any tips to overcome that?
